High Efficient/Sensitive speakers

I'm pretty much 90-95% convinced that when I upgrade from my Sierra-1s, I want to get LSR6332's to replace them. They don't have quite as much sensitivity as the SRX or JTR's, but I don't listen at levels or distances that require super high sensitivity. Plus, I like the way that they look. :D

I guess you can't buy those online? Only at dealer's?
They did a direct order for DIY super spud sub kits but I think that was to generate a lot of buzz. I think usually you have to go through dealers.

Again Danley is more geared towards concert venues and the like (and I suppose the lunatic fringe of home theater enthusiasts).

Gedlee is another to consider more seriously - GedLee LLC Alas I checked and their prices are above your range.

Ok Stupid Question Time....:D

Are you thinking of using the JBL SRX speakers for listening in your home or for portable PA/Band use? Cuzz I am confused , but then again that is a state of being.......:rolleyes::cool:

If your going there let's get you into some better voiced speakers that would give less horn sound, less JBL "honk" and less beaming in the upper midrange.

Take a look at the EAW LA series such as the LA 325 which is a 3-way

EAW: LA325

Something smaller would be the LA215 which is a 2 way

EAW: LA215

Both of these have a conical 90deg, 2" comp driver mounted on the wave guide. The boxes were designed for setting on the edge of the night club stage and having a good wide pattern (for live sound). Good sounding boxes. Very high sensitivity (100). ;)

Family room karaoke :D, some 2.1 movies and music. Nothing too serious or hardcore, but nothing that sounds as bad as the Yamaha 215 cab speakers either.

Some over @AVS considered the JBL SRX as "hi-fi" quality. Some even say the JTR speakers sound as good as the Revel Studio2. I mean the JTR Triple-8 is only $1150 each delivered.

Of course, I can get the infamous "Harman Reference" JBL LSR6332 for $1277 each delivered. If they had grills, I might have bought them already.

So I was looking for something around $900-$1200.

Sorry I forgot how expensive they were.....:(

Let me get some other ones. The LA's just sound great for a PA box.

If you lived closer I probably could have let you borrow the eD Cinemas for the year.

The Yorkville has the synergy horn technology licensed from Danley. They should sound good, be very efficient, and get very loud.

They have a smaller speaker, the u15, same technology but smaller than the u215. It's 1x15 instead of 2x15. For your uses you'll probably find it adequate. The smaller size and weight will probably make it easier to work with. Max spl is 131 vs. 134.

Best to find a dealer and take a listen to see what you think.

Yeah, I saw the price tag of the Abbey @ $6K/pr? Seems extremely pricy compared to the JBL LSR6332 @ $2.5K/pr.

Do you guys have the feeling the GedLee Abbey is better than the LSR6332?

Have you compared the eD Cinema to any of these pro type speakers?

What is the SPL rating on the eD Cinema?

So let me get this right. You're not only subjecting your party guests to the humiliation of karaoke (sp?), but want to subject them to the experience at 130 db? What are you, some sort of monster?;)

(A friend who does mediation work often has the involved parties participate in a karaoke session to 'break the ice' and to get participants into a more psychologically flexible mindset. He works for the State Dept. Yes, folks, that's your tax dollars, hard at work, forcing tribal clans who have been fighting amongst each other for hundreds of years into performing karaoke in front of their enemies. God bless America.)

Not sure. MKtheater as compared them to some pro audio stuff in this thread:

Speaker Shootout!! - AVS Forum

He ranks them in this post:

The eD-c12 seems interesting especially for the price. I mean the package deal eD-c12 pair + A3-300 costs just about the same as a single JTR T3 or single Yorkville U215 or single JBL SRX-715. :D

What speakers have you compared them too?

Okay, which would you get if aesthetics were not a factor?

Case#1:

JBL SRX715 vs JTR Triple-8 vs JBL LSR6332

Case#2:

JBL SRX712 vs JTR Single-8

Case#3:

Something similar to these in both price class of $900 each and $1200 each?
First of all, I wanna point out that the LSR 6332s are a studio monitor, not a high efficiency speaker. They are however probably capable of hitting pretty damn close to reference levels, which may not be true of most speakers in their price range.

It's definitely a different type of speaker. You've got a lot of speakers that have wide dispersion, including salons, kefs, jbls, philharmonics... but the Abbey and the Synergy Horn will have narrow dispersion (less side wall reflections).... a hell of a lot to be paying for Kareoke though

My suggestion?

Wait a little bit longer. I suspect someone will offer a speaker using the SEOS-12 waveguide - and that's where it's at. In fact I would contact Wayne Parham of Pi Speakers to inquire about exactly that.

I just sent Wayne an email. He lives in Tulsa, which is about 100 miles from OKC. :D

Okay, just got email from Wayne. I asked him if he may be offering the SEOS-12. His reply:

"Oh, heavens no. I make the H290C waveguide, which is superior in every way."
