I second the Philharmonic 1s; would scrap the idea of a center. That'll be a huge upgrade over what you have.

I would agree with your recommendation. I have a drawback in my room that I can only fit between 8-9 inch in width. The Phil's would be too wide for my setup. I have auditioned a number of choices but I am getting nowhere because the shops do not carry the models I could use. I am interested in the PSB Image 6T or Monitor Audio RX6 Silver. I auditioned the MA RX8 good sound but too big. I also auditioned another model in the PSB line Imagine 6B. It was good but I would be more interested in the T6. I also listened to a pair of Dynaudio Excite 12 which was the best in my opinion but a little beyond budget with the stands and all. Anyone have any experience in the ASW line? Where I heard the Dyn's that is what he was recommending but I ran out of time there. Not sure of the model number but they were small floor standers. The search continues.

cevet, isn't Windsor close to Detroit? Maybe you could take a drive across the bridge and check out some shops in that area.

I auditioned the Monitor Audio RX6 and liked them. I ended up with a pair EMP E55Ti's that are equal in sound and build to the MA RX8 and I'm very happy with them.
They ship to Canada. You can email Brian at: btracy@emptek.com

Good luck!

The Monitor Audio RX6, has a more tight and controlled bass, over the RX8.
For me, it would be a clear winner music wise, over the RX8

Thanks Jim much appreciated. Any insight on the PSB Image T6 compared to the RX6?

I prefer the midrange resolution, and bass control of the RX6.
PSB is still a nice speaker, and my choice over Paradigm.

Well this is only my opinion of course but the QS4's are not bad by no means. I originally had Paradigm ADP's as my side surrounds. I switched them for a pair of QS8's. What an improvement. This was at my previous residence but have since downsized to a smaller home and had to place the QS8's on my rear wall (no other choice except for ceiling) and placed the QS4's over my rear archway. The 4's quite honestly are not near the sound quality(oomph if you will) of the 8's but IMHO the rear channels for me only come into play on Blu-Ray 7.1 and they do a fine job with that. I am looking at the aspect of rearranging the 8's while I search for a new front stage. So my opinion is, if you can swing it you would not be sorry with the 8's as opposed to the 4's as your rears. I might add that I picked up the 4's from the factory outlet at Axiom and could not find a blemish on them and they are sonically perfect. Good luck.
thanks for the recommendation, cevet! i will definitely consider kicking up the budget and additional wall space for the 8's.

My thanks to all that helped in my decision. Thanks Jim I took your recommendation and ran with it. Today purchased a pair of walnut Monitor Audio RX6 and they sound fantastic. This was an interesting development. I contacted MA to ask about a certain dealer(on Ebay) and he was not authorized. My local dealer only had the RX8 which I auditioned but were too big and told Monitor Audio about that. MA contacted my local dealer and you guessed it in two days the RX6's were in his showroom waiting for my audition. Funny how things can happen so fast when contacting the manufacturer. Now I pursue the RX center

Good to hear...once you had more time with your speakers...I'd like to read your thoughts on how the MA voicing compares with your Axioms. I'm happy with the results of using my Q4's surrounds with my Sierras for movies and with some surround formatted music... just not all the time and I don't feel like throwing away more money for surrounds speakers is the way to go.
