looks good, plus transferable warranty.

It's not the full 5T system because the surrounds are 4b, but overall it's a great deal. I'd go for it although I'd find out exactly how much time is on the warranty.

Well if there are still plenty of years left on the warranty and you get the set for $800 or less then you end up with a excellent deal even if you have to ship them back in for any repairs.

As far as I know the PL28 is a center speaker and not a system? I may be wrong there. I'm thinking these should be much better than a set of BIC speakers, but only because I've read to many good things about aperion and have seen that they measure well etc, but I have to be honest when I say that I don't know a lot about the BICs. I only know that audioholics said the DV something bookshelf sounded alright.

If it were my money I'd go with the aperion speakers, especially at that price, but again only if there were quite a few years left on the warranty (IE more than 5 of the ten years).

Not easy to keep up with all your different threads, you tend to
dance back and forth with the Bic.
I would go with something from the likes of Aperion, Emp, Boston
or KEF. Also, I would look at the Infinity Primus > over those BIC's

i admit, i am having trouble making up my mind, thanks for noticing zieg :)
problem is, nowhere to go test drive any of these internet direct speakers. I dont want to order have them shipped test drive in my home and if I dont like them, have to send them back, too much hassle

I am considering the bic because I liked the sound of the klipsch rf62, and have read the bic pl89 would be comparable.

i would like the emp teks i think, but wish they would go on sale

If you do not go with, or win the Aperion from Ebay, then buy a pair
of bookshelf speakers from Bic and another line that you seem to be
interested in - do the test drive, and decide from there.

What about commercial speakers? Kef, totem, boston, and I'm sure a few others are out there for you to audition before you buy.

Emp speakers are generally on sale compared to aperion speakers. In terms of where the speakers fall in their respective lineups aperion speakers are generally, literally twice the price of the emp speakers. That package on ebay is a great deal, but buying an emp package at full "retail" is a similarly great deal.

^^ Also good advice

dont think the bookshelfs will work for my space.

19x19 living room, 9 ft ceilings, open format into kitchen, about the same size.

I think he just meant buying a cheaper set of bookshelves from the company you're interested in will give you a good idea whether you will like more speakers from them.

Only to test the sound character, they are easier to ship back >
or use as surrounds in HT. I already knew the size of your room.

Oh come now, the totems aren't that much more expensive.......he'll just have to save up a bit more to complete the set :D

Besides I think it's worth it to hear them and not just speakers you intend to buy. The more the merrier and will help him learn more about speakers in general, right? :)

Why not, some dealers need something to do. It can be interesting
going inside a forest, and not standing outside wondering.:)
