anybody here into Legos?

here's a good resource on everything Lego
Brickipedia

i'm going nuts on medieval themed legos:
Kingdoms - Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

especially the upcoming: The Lord of the Rings - Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

i might also buy a bit of this just to complete the avengers:
Marvel - Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

i have most of the Kingdoms series, which i bought bit by bit, so i did not notice how much i was spending on this.

but now that i'm budgeting funds for the LOTR series, i thought it was nuts that i have about 450usd earmarked just for the LOTR theme. 150usd for the avengers theme. and about 50 for this set: 9465 The Zombies - Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki in case i want to make a zombie apocalypse on my kid's Lego "City" series.

i used to be into lego. but not the brick kind, mostly technic stuff with gears and motors and pneumatic stuff :D its an expensive habit (for toys) though and i decided audio is more important. but one day i WILL buy the famous 8880 supercar but it will be a while before i can justify $250+ for lego

well, LOTR has just been released online ...
took the chance and bought the whole LOTR set + some duplicate sets; completed the avengers characters; bought some custom zombie minifigure parts and weapons ...

total damage. 1000usd. ouch.

online shopping has been the bane of my savings (or the absence of it).

that said, super excited.

I love Legos. I'm old school though. I like a container full of basic bricks...Maybe that's why I spend so much time in the boring thread...:D

i don't think i grew up with "Lego" per se. i must have been playing a different brand of bricks, a high quality imitation most probably.

Doug, yeah, the bricks i played with had high playability (creativity), but these current legos seem super boring without the minifigs and themes.

Adam, i also played with the space bricks, i'm still not sure what bricks those were, is that set yours?

Nope - that's a picture from Wikipedia. :) However, I do have some of those sets.

My favorites as a kid were the space ones too. I had most of the sets and still have some parts from those as well and ultimately gave those to my kids. The kids are out of the house, but I still have the legos in a box. A TON of medieval minifigs and parts too. They haven't been out of that box in a LONG time

My favorites growing up were the Lego Space kits.
That picture brought back some memories. I had several of those sets. Not sure where they are now. I know there is a big suitcase full of the many sets all jumbled together. It's sitting at my mom's house for when her grandkids are there. So much fun as a kid.

Heck, as an adult, I still enjoy building with them even if I don't have much time for it. I have introduced my kids to them as well.

Had to post this for Mike.

The vice president of Palo Alto software firm SAP Labs, LLC will be charged on Tuesday with four felony burglary charges for allegedly pasting fraudulent barcodes on LEGO toys at local Target stores.

............

Police found hundreds of unopened LEGO sets -- many special edition items -- at his gated, multimillion-dollar home, according to court papers. Six of the seven items stolen from the stores were found at Langenbach's home, according to a police report filed with the court.
