Time to buy a gun ... again

I like the M&P 9 & 45 quite a bit. S&W now has the M&P Shield, which is a subcompact, less than 1" wide version for CC. Springfield has yet to release the XDS. I will probably buy an M&P Shield :D

I actually shot the .40 at the range because they didn't have the 9 available. Nice, but since I am looking for a 1911 .45 already, I didn't feel I'd need a .40. For a general shooter, the M&P 9 is good enough and ammo is cheaper than .40.

You are in Tx. though, and I am in Ca. No real CC here, so no real reason for a CC gun :( Our county does allow CC, but still not allowed in most towns.

I spent a lot of time pondering a 1911, but with so many frigging options out there, it makes it kinda difficult. I am leaning toward a Para. Maybe/probably later this year. Would like to keep it under $1K, though I would really like a Kimber, the ones I like are over that by a few hundred

I hear the Ruger SR1911 is great and relatively cheap.

I dunno how much my brother in law paid for his Kimber 1911, but I enjoyed shooting it. It was nicer than the Springfield 1911 we were shooting at the same time.

G&A picked the Para GI Expert as one of their favorite inexpensive but accurate .45s. I am considering their Classic 14-45, which has some minor upgrades from that one but is still below $1k. They didn't have it at the other shop I went to this weekend, but had a similar model in stainless. Didn't get a chance to shoot it though.

behold the Para Ord PX14-45 Gun Rights ... fighting for USA gun rights! (i don't even know why that pistol was sold out of the USA)

but i was happy with the free modded trigger and fiber optic sight.

i have my doubts about being able to wield it if awoken from sleep ... but it's still super cool and feels like a real gun.

i should also get an updated family picture.

Ordered my new pistol yesterday. S&W M&P 9. 10 day waiting period in California is the spectacularly boring part. Went to the range and tried a few guns and liked this one for the price. This will be my "plenty of rounds" gun :D The other .22s are just plinkers.

While we were there, the g/f was looking around and we shot this also. M&P 15-22. She ended up buying one :D

We shot the USP compact in 9 last week and neither of us were fans of it. Probably should have shot the full size.
I have that same M&P 9 and it's awesome. My buddy did a trigger job on it for me so it breaks nice and clean now, and it's pretty accurate too. I think you will enjoy it, and the interchangeable backstraps are a nice touch too.

Will most likely be going to a Crimson Trace grip. The guy at the shop said it isn't quite the same as either the medium or the large, but it still fits good. I told him I liked the medium and large and he said it should be fine for me.

You must have pretty large hands then... I liked the medium, but the small fit my hand a little better, of course I shoot a full sized Glock 21 with no problem and it feels like a giant brick in my hand, so the grip size isn't too big of an issue for me.

I have long fingers :) The grip was actually the reason why I didn't go with an XD 9, because I felt it shot well, but didn't quite fit my hand. After trying the various grip sizes with the M&P, I was sold on it. The one I shot had the small grip on it and it was only slightly too small, but it still worked, I just liked the feel of the other two better. I also shot my Buddie's Beretta .40 with an aftermarket grip that was about the size of the large on the M&P and it felt good too.

Very nice, how do you like the crimson trace on there?

I like it so far. It does feel different from the included grips, closest to the medium, but shaped differently; less palm swell. The only bad thing about the CT is that any shake translates into a lot more dancing on the other end, but it is a neat toy :) It is so well integrated into the grip that you almost can't even tell it is there.

I'm thinking about getting a mare's leg, just don't know if I want 45 Colt or 44 Mag. It's also available in 357 Mag and 22 LR.

was thinking of buying the magpul rifle length handguard for my m16
aside from this handguard, what other brands are nice but affordable?

i plan on putting a sling mount, maybe a bipod, maybe a foregrip.

Some company bought the rights to remake the Henry repeating rifle. They've already released new production models utilizing some modern technology/processes, but are working on releasing a version that is built to the original specs as well. When we heard this both of us said simultaneously "We gotta get one!" :)

I'm also considering one of these:

Just saw on American Guns where they built one of those as a zombie killer, end of days gun, and converted it from a .45-70 action to a .500 S&W, it was very sweet.

The one they built had a stupid skull muzzle brake.
Rossi makes them, too. I like that plain blued receivers on theirs instead of the polished brass.
