He was a heck of a player. I will wait for the facts, but you can't help but wonder if it is related to all the head-trauma related suicides. He had a great reputation, but who knows what demons lurked inside.

I'll wait for more info. Sad...one heck of a player.

That's what it said in the article. He left a note saying the injuries to his head left him mentally unstable. Sounds like he didn't shoot himself in the head because he wants it to be studied to find out if the injuries can be tied to those issues.

That really stinks. He always seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

Heard about this a while ago. Took ESPN and SI forever to pick up on the story.

Hall of fame.

One of the most dominate defensive players in the 90's.

In my opinion he was at one point the best LB in the NFL. It's unfortunate he didn't get to enjoy his Hall of Fame day. It's truly sad to see him gone. Clearly a combination of Steroids and heat trauma jack up your brain.

Yikes, a gunshot to the chest, sparing the brain. That's sad and somehow ... decent, like maybe it could help someone else.

The best Trojan is one that doesn't break.

Too soon?
Too soon.

Timing would be ok if he was a complete rectal orifice like Barry Bonds. But he was one of the guys with a decent reputation. Plus the way he went out lengthens the time.

I'm glad there is now so much emphasis on head trauma and the impact on players. It does need to be pushed down to college and high school levels. How many kids in PeeWee and High School bang their heads together to get hyped up? Better helmets and teaching kids to tackle properly without slamming their head needs to be a priority. It builds up over time. Junior's 20 NFL career was preceded by college, high school... How many years of head trauma?

No quick and easy solutions. I feel bad for his kids. That has to be really tough for them.

I had a friend take his life. I'm still impacted by it 3 years later. I can't imagine what it has done for his kids.

But Junior never reported having a concussion. I'm sure all those collisions has to have an effect on your brain though.

I watched Marcellus Wiley's interview yesterday and his emotion struck me as "Crocodile Tears". Mabye he was being honest and Junior's death really hit him hard, I just have a hard time believing it after all the trash talking Marcellus did when he left the Chargers.

I hate seeing all of the pictures of Junior in a Pats uniform. Seau will always be a Charger.
