Interesting point. I guess I haven't really looked around the A/H store at all, and I certainly would be less prone to even consider recommending them for cable purchases when there are alternatives out there which are recommended regularly within these forums.
That said, someone who has convinced themselves to drop $10K on cabling to improve their systems, I would rather have them come here and spend it, then go somewhere else.
What I think may disappoint me more is the lack of lower priced alternative solutions for cables and a real focus on some possible A/V solutions which could generate profits.
How about cables which are shorter and work better inside an equipment rack at a reasonable price. Sure, 6' cables are great, but two pieces of gear side by side only need a 3' cable. Sometimes shorter. Power cables... Man, IEC cables (D plug) and Edison cables in 1', 2', 3', 4', and 5' lengths I would think could sell well and shouldn't be overly expensive for a quality cable.
Still, the electronics look like they have a pretty good price point on them, or at least in-line with other full service etailers.
I would expect that it is still all business though. Just because it isn't something that gets recommended on the forums, and just because it doesn't get a 'well worth it' review, it doesn't mean that it shouldn't be sold. I will certainly sell one of my client's $10,000 in cabling or more if they want it. I won't recommend it to them though, but I certainly will sell it if that is what they have their hearts set on.
I'm guessing not much of that is sold in these parts.
