It's hard to say without hearing both in person, but based on my previous experience with SVS and Paradigm, I'd go with Paradigm.

Interesting, because based on my experience with subs from both of them, I'd go with the SVS.

PB13U for sure.

The SUB 15 is very nice, but I don't think it will be as capable as the PB13U. In 20 or 15 Hz tunes, the SVS has equal or greater output than the Signature SUB 2 from 40 Hz and down, with less distortion (except 16 Hz in the 20 Hz tune and 12.5 and 10 Hz in both).

Wouldn't this be more of an apples to apples by using the sb13u plus and not the pb13u? Also PM a mod to make into a real polling thread....but for my money the PB13+ being a ported design within it's limits would slay that sub 15...:D

The Paradigm Sub2 has a smoother overall response however and will not come across as boomy as the SVS. The SVS runs out of steam below 16 HZ where as teh Paradigm's roll off is not nearly so severe. If given the choice between the 2 for free, I'd take the Sub2 over the SVS.

The subwoofer in question is the SUB 15, not the SUB 2. I only brought up the SUB 2 to demonstrate the PB13U's capabilities since there isn't an AH review of the SUB 15.

What makes you think the SVS would be boomy? And of course the SVS runs out of steam below 16hz - any ported sub will do so below tuning.

The Paradigm in question is the Sub15 not the Sub2...FYI 3dB!

If I was going to take one of them for free & was planning on only using this one sub I'd take the PB-13 Ultra!

If I was going to take one of them with the intent of buying a second identical sub I'd take the Sub15 with intent of buying a second Sub15.

I know I'm going outside the original question a bit but these situations would play a part in my choice. But PB-13U vs. Sub15 direct...PB-13U all the way for me!

Since it was a sub give away choice and the sub2 was brought into the discussion, I just included it in the give away. :p

Chill people. No one is going to be giving us a sub of that calibre of choice anytime soon.

I'm assuming Rippyman asked the question because he was considering buying one of the two choices (also assuming the SUB15 costs around the same as the PB13U) :)

I only brought up the SUB 2 to show how capable the SVS was for much less money. I'm also assuming the SUB 15 will not be nearly as capable as the SUB 2.

Correct, I've always had my eye on the SVS PB13Ultra, but I can get the SUB15 for slightly less, so was just curious what others opinions are on the two.

How much can you get the Sub15 for?
I remember your room, would you be getting only 1 Sub15?
Because in your room you'd be happier I think with a single PB-13U much more than a single Sub15. Dual Sub15s would be nice though. But if you wanted dual sealed 15" subs I'd go with ULS-15s. Or if you want output go dual VTf-15s for the price of a single PB-13U...lots of choices!!

The PB13 would no doubt have more output in the deep bass, I'm guessing anything under 30 hz. If the sub is for movies, that is something to keep in mind. But the Sub15 is no joke, if your application is music, I might swing for a Sub 15, if it was the same price. There are other subs already mentioned that I would rather have than either, FW 18.0, Hsu ULS 15 dual drive, Seaton Submersive, each of those costs a bit more than the $2k price of the Pb13. You might also look at the JTR Captivator, that has received a lot of positive attention, and would likely have more output than any of them.
