Hi All,

have a question about the Denon receiver I can use with these speakers I have at home:

Canton Chrono 509.2 DC speakers plus the center speaker.
The speakers have 4t/m8 Ohms
The standing speakers have a minimum of 160 watts to 320 Watts max.

Now i have the Denon AVR-1912 but regularly goes into the safe mode.

Do you have advice for me?

Ciao Marco

You need to change the receiver because there are no pre-outs on the 1912. Sorry, but there is no why to fix the situation with this receiver.

So, pick up a receiver that has pre outs and add a 2 channel amp for the Cantons.

Try increasing the speakers channel level to +6dB (Denon 1912 Manual Setup -->Speakers Setup-->Channel Level) first and see if that helps.

Any particular features you need on the 3312?

Otherwise, you can get the Denon 990 (clone of Denon 3310/3311/3312) for $638:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002AKKFRG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A2YLQD1KA16JR7

For external amps, there are several routes.

1) "pro" amps like QSC, Crown, Yamaha, Behringer - but they do have internal fans -- so slight noise

2 "budget" amps like OSD AMP300 for $346:
Amazon.com: OSD Audio AMP300 2-Channel Dual-Source 300-Watt High Definition Power Amplifier (Black): Electronics

It is 150wpc x 2ch 8ohm, 250wpc x 2ch 4ohm, stable to 2ohm. Even has the blue UV power meter like McIntosh so you can monitor how many Watts you are actually using.:D

It has variable gain control like the pro-style amps. The AMP300 is a solid state amp, and no fans, so quieter than pro amps.

3) "mid-budget" amps like Emotiva. Very popular.

Could also get the 200watts monoblock amps for $350 each from Emotiva or Outlaw Audio, so 2 monoblocks = $674:

4) "mid-high-end" amps like ATI amps.

No big deal to me.:D

You guys wonder why the AVR-990 is $1500 and the AVR3312 is $1100?

990/3310 has Anchor Bay ABT-2010 video processor, and the 3312 has some generic processor I don't know?

990/3310 is also 2 lbs heavier than 3312 (28lbs vs 26lbs).

3312 has dual sub outputs vs single on 990, but Y-cable can fix that.

I have 3312, 3310, & 990.

Now if the price were similar, 3312 would be good. But if I could get the 990 for $638, that's easy choice.

The new DENON AVRs will be introed in May and shipping in June/July....
This will reduce the pricing of their current models significantly when put on closeout....

Just my $0.02... ;)
