Folks, I am down to these three of which I will audition PSB and KEF Q700 tomorrow. I am music and HT both

But where do I stand with Aperion Verus? I saw them in mags and boy they are sleek. This one just rolled on to the red carpet that turned heads.

Going to buy my Fronts and Center in next 2 weeks.

I would lean towards the Q900s over the other two.

Have you looked at the Philharmonic speakers?

Just like anything else at any price point.

Some like, some dislike.

DenPureSound tried the Aperion Verus towers. He disliked them. Thought the Klipsch RF83 were much better. Thought DefTech BP7001SC were much, much, much better.

At least Aperion offers the free 30-day return.

KEF, PSB, NHT, Ascend, Salk are also good.

What price are you willing to pay?

Like GranteedEV says, the Philharmonic 1, 2, & 3 are hard to beat for $1,600, $2,000, and $3,000 respectively.

Go and do your audition - if they are not enough for you sound wise,
then check on the Aperion. The answer I gave you in another thread,
was that I favor KEF over the Image series - and the Image series is
still a nice one. Have fun and Good Luck!

As much I like and know that you can never ever go wrong with the Philharmonics, the aesthetics does not win me. I have a higher court at home that will not approve of anything that does not look like speakers. Phil's tend to ask for space and attention.

GranteedEV, I would love to go for Q900's but my wallet falls short. I am at $750 for my fronts. I am actually stretching myself on the Q700's and hope to find a good deal on them if I do decide to go with them.

I am also leaning towards HSU sub as the $600-700 ones fit my budget.

I am looking for a good center and will need to do some homework for them to accurately match them to my fronts. Going for dipoles on the back - has anyone tried the Energy Veritas V-S Dipoles? They are scarce on the market but I like to get my hands on them if I can. I own Energy speakers now and my heart skips a beat everytime I think hear about them going down and being discontinued. Shamefully, Klipsch just flushed one of the best engineers and brands in the market.

One last question can mid priced bookshelfs serve as surrounds? What are the pros and cons?

That should be easy... just buy whatever center is from the same series as your fronts! :D
If you are buying all new speakers, why would you not get a timbre maching system?!

Rears may not be AS important to match, but I wouldn't get something different for the sake of something different. Having the same tonality all around does make a considerable difference in my view.
