What a Huge Difference!

Being out of touch with the audio industry for as long as I hate to remember, 40 years to be exact, it makes you wonder how we survived without internet when it came to getting the proper assistance and answers without driving around for a whole day.

After placing my order this past week and having it arrived, I was mising the most important key ingredient... cables! I contacted Crutchfield to see if I could have a one shop experience to get everything I need to put our system together. I spoke to a very nice young man who proceeded in putting a list together, and sent me an email of items I needed for the install. When I scrolled to the bottom to see what the total was, boy was I ever in shock... $212.77!You have got to be kidding me, really?

I went to Monorprice to see if I could better. After speaking to Technical Support twice via chat, I was able to get everything I needed. I proceeded to order the items I needed. After confirming I had everything I looked at the total... $49.51!!! Can this be possible? I doublechecked to make sure I didn't leave anything out, and the total was the same.

To all the newbies who are in the same boat as I am, and who are wanting a home theatre, or if you are like me and wanting music in one room and TV in the other, regardless of your need, save yourself time and money and go to Monoprice for all of your cable needs. I found out that making your own connections will produce the absolute best quality sound instead of buying pre-made cables. This, for sure, is good to know.

I hope this will help when planning your next audio/video project.

Yes, it can be a shocker to see that there can be a 4x price difference.

Good job in finding what you need for such a great saving.:D

I just spent $1,000 at Monoprice... Still trying to figure out how I managed to do that.

Yep. Monoprice is no secret to us "Forum Folk", but I don't think the average consumer is aware of them at all. They are the RARE case where they seem "too good to be true", but they're actually the real deal!

To be honest, $212 for a bunch of cables isn't even that bad. You could easily go to Best Buy and spend that for ONE Mon$ter branded piece of overpriced junk :p

You're absolutely correct that investing in a crimping tool an buying your cable stock and connectors in bulk can save you quite a bit as well! Not so much an option for HDMI cables though ;)

I WILL say, even though they're much more expensive than Monoprice, I still love Bluejeanscables.com . Literally broadcast quality cables - made in the USA - and just tip top quality through and through. For long 35+ foot HDMI cables, I still trust Bluejeans over anything else. They have their tartan sub-brand as well, which are sometimes even a few pennies cheaper than Monoprice! :D

Monoprice cables and banana plugs are okay, though nothing to write home about.

Their TV Mounts are wicked though :D

Wow.

In-wall speakers for several rooms, and all of the wiring needed to connect them?

HDMI extenders over cat cabling at $200 each plus about half a dozen TV mounts, and a bunch of accessories for all of it. Really was way easier to spend then I thought.

I was impressed that I spent $455 last month with them. Cables (power, XLR, speaker wire, HDMI) for an entire trade show booth 120ft x 80ft lol.

I go to Monoprice for TONS of things and have yet to be disappointed. All my cables are Monoprice. I also have bought an HDMI splitter and 2 TV wall mounts. The wall mounts were only $15 each!!!

The few times I've had to return something the process has been pain free.

The best part is that since they're in SoCal, if I order by 2pm, they ship it out that day and I get it the next day!
