Players visit other teams all the time. Is the feeling that Mario's definitely going to Buffalo?

Sources from NFL network (Lombardi, Lacanforna) say they are the highest bidders. I assume it is around 15 mill (40-50 mill guaranteed) Lombardi made it seem like it him landing in Buffalo...unless something major happens...

Cool. That would be huge.
Buffalo is a very passionate sports city. It is a frenzy right now...on the radio they just reported they are willing to make him the highest paid defensive player...

I would like Meachem too. He would be a good #2 for us, down the field threat to complement Stevie Johnson.

I don't want to see Meachem go, but can understand why he'd want to. I think he could be a great receiver somewhere else.

Meachem right now is at dinner with Mario Williams, Chan Gailey and Dave Wansteedt in Buffalo.

I think Meachem would fit in great in our offensive system. We run a spread offense that is similar to NO except without a proven deep threat. I think he can be a 60+ catch guy here.

Gotta hand it to Roger Goddell.

In one swoop, the Commish has managed the impossible with his boneheaded theft of cap room from the Redskins and the Cowboys for (gasp) spending money on players in an uncapped year:

(1) Give common-cause to Redskins fans and our normal enemies.
(2) Create nationwide sympathy for Daniel Snyder and Jerry Jones. On most days even fervent Redskins fans don't have much if any sympathy for The Danny. While I avoid them as much as possible, I surmise the same is likely true for dallass fans and Jimmy.
(3) Unite the sports media in support of two people they'd really much rather skewer. (To quote the late George Carlin, why? Because it's fun!)

And in my mind the Jints' owner (who chairs the committee that meted out the punishment) looks like he's trying to give the reigning champions a huge competitive advantage in the Beast. Can anyone say "conflict of interest?" (Surely, nobody can say "restore the competitive balance" with a straight face!)

Dunno why, honestly.

Money is just rope that Danny and Jerry use to hang themselves. (See, e.g. Fat Albert.) On a tighter budget, maybe they'll be more focused.

I haven't seen anyone sympathize with these two. If anything, everyone I met is rather enjoying the situation. A die-hard cowboys fan I know just is hanging his head. He knows the best defense against the Cowboys is Jerry Jones.

I think it's entertaining. Granted, I would have looked to game the system as well. But oh well, I really don't mind that they got caught and summarily thumped.

So now that Indy is unloading everyone, what is Luck thinking about going number 1? "What...oh wait...um...Yeah RG III should be #1, yeah, that's it..." Good thing he can run fast because Luck will need lots of Luck to avoid getting squashed with no O-line in Indy.

Can't believe my Bolts let both VJ and McNeill walk. True we couldn't have paid VJ the money he's making in Tampa, but AJ should have signed him last year. Meacham is good but I don't think he's VJ good.

Here's hoping Gaither works out as McNeill's replacement. He played well last year but he only played a few games. Not having high hopes for this season so far.

Meachem would have been a good fit for the Bills as a complement receiver. I can understand the Bills not signing him and him leaving for SD after what they paid him. SD overpaid. He would have been the #2 receiver in Buffalo. He's the #1 in SD.

On the Mario Williams front, Williams just picked up his fiance at the Buffalo airport and are going to tour the facility etc....not a done deal yet though.

It's in line with the Julius Peppers contract from 2 years ago. Peppers avg was 15ish/year. Williams is 16. I think 40 was guaranteed with Peppers. 50 here. Williams I think gets 25 in his first year!

The Bills franchise really needs a DE let alone one of the best pass rushers in the game in his prime. Well worth it IMO because we had a lot of the cap to spend and still have more. The city is going ape #$%^ right now.

Buffalo is a sports city. They have potential and adding the weapons they will really help. No more hanging your head in shame Buffalo!!

At least I hope not...

At least in Buffalo, the players are players. The Jets seem like fashion models first and football players second. Ok, it's just Sanchez I don't like but he did play decent the first two years. Go Bills! (as long as they fold against NFC teams)

Way too much for a DLineman. A QB maybe, but a DLineman?
Defensive line is an area where spending money or drafting and retaining paying out big money is wise. Same with the quarterback position. It's a pass driven league today. The only way to stop the great quarterbacks is pressure, pressure, pressure from the front 4. It's no coincidence the best quarterbacks are always in the playoffs. Pass rush is what you need to compete for titles.

Just like a great quarterback, a great pass-rush can make up for other deficiencies one has on a team. I can't really say that for many other positions.
