Any one have any measurement/pricing data on these?

A dealer I know says this is the greatest subwoofer of all times... yet I can't find any information or FR/groundplane tests on it at all. Has this not been released yet?

Focal has nothing to win and a lot to lose by allowing such testing, so I wouldn't expect any serious reviewers to ever get their hands on one.

Well if a dealer says it, it must be true :)

Do you have a link to this sub? All I see on their website is the 13"

I'm sure it's not bad.

It claims 94db sensitivity and extension down to 18hz (-3db)

I'm sure it's got great punch due to the high sensitivity, but I doubt it plumbs the depths as well as an LMS-5400.

Once you get to four-six high end subs, sensitivity is no longer a concern, as the multiple subs contribute to a high system sensitivity.

You are correct. I guess he was talking about the Grande Utopia EM's featuring the 16" sub.

The biggest they make is the Sub Utopia EM which has the 13"... $14k list...

some specs off their website:

Stackable Passive Subwoofer
Drivers: ElectroMagnetic 13" "W" bass driver
FR +/- 3dB 22Hz-500hz
Response at -6dB 19Hz
Sensitivity: 93dB
Nominal Impedance 8 ohm
minimal impedance 5.5 ohm
recommended amp power: 500-1000w
Dimensions 25 5/16x19x24 1/2"
Weight 158.5 LBs

They claim "almost 130dB SPL @ 1m (in a corner)" That's nothing to brag about is it? 14k with no amplification? You could buy a lot of lms-5400 18" drivers and funkywave enclosures for that kind of scratch.

At first glance, I'm left feeling underwhelmed.

From a single 13" driver? Sure it is. It seems about as good as an SVS PB12 Plus :D  :D

That said, the impressive part is the 93db sensitivity. I'm sure it's a great performer for a $1400 sub.

Oh? What's that? There's another zero?

Does anyone realize, who willing to spend that kind of $, what I or some of the others could build for $14K in a subwoofer??????????????????????

A fool and their money are soon parted....

I want to go to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest next October to hear what some 150k plus stereo systems sound like... even though I'd most likely never spend that kind of money on a set of speakers even if I could afford it. I hope I get to check them out with a cd or two of my own. Do they allow you to do this or are they pretty set on torturing you with George Michaels or whatever they see fit ? :D
