If by chance they don't have the exact values..It's OK to use 25v in place of the 16v. It OK to go higher in both values (not lower) as long as the case size is the same. In those values it will be.
I'm not sure but it sounds like you're saying that the case size is the same for 16v and 25v but the 25v is actually a little taller but they are the same in diameter.

This could be my first electronic component swap that actually fixes anything. :D

Many times the case is just a generic vehicle to house the electronics.
To be clearer on what I was going for earlier: (you'll probably find the exact matches) But... In a pinch, and if you want to fix it sooner rather than later. A slight value increase won't matter. Even a slight case size difference won't matter since the radial leads can be bent.

I am having a b!tch of a time getting the old solder out of the holes.

Here's some pic's until somebody bails me out.

I just took this so I would know how to cram all this crap back in there.

This one is just to make Swerd jealous unless of course he sprung for the $6 helping hands. Actually it shows the orientation of the 4 caps I want to replace.

And finally the holes. I started feeding the leads through by melting the solder but that was gonna be a hard row to hoe so I pulled it back out. Do I just need to heat the tarnations out of it and melt the board?

I just had an idea for the solder wick. Stand back everybody. You should probably turn your computers off until I give the all clear. :D

Never let it be said that I prudently waited for assistance. I remembered that Mapp gas gave off extra heat. I just want these pic's on the bigger screen to check the work. This isn't a project you want to tackle with on old prescription for glasses.

I find it absolutely hilarious that you put it back together just to throw it out.:D

The Fragile sticker on the box was a nice touch.

Did the leads of the old caps go through the board? I didn't see any pictures of the bottom side "Before" the fix.

I had to get it back together to find out that it had kicked my @ss.

Before we got to the dumpster I had positioned the speakers with as much separation as the cables would allow to offer the widest sound stage and had the wires all nice and neat to maximize visual appeal for the pending sales pitch. Oh well, it's the computer version of HTiB. At least it offered me some entertainment value for the $7.50 I spent on caps.

The Fragile sticker on the box was a nice touch.
The irony of that escaped me. What's even worse is that the guy at the electronics shop told me that I shouldn't bother with the caps that appeared to be fine and were away from the pair that were beside each other (one of which was bulging).

Yeah, the old caps went through the PCB. I clipped my leads after the photo but you can see other stuff going through the PCB in those pics.

I cannot believe that you threw that away! All those spare parts...gone.

I am, however, honored that my Oscar thread post was captured in one of your photos. :D

You didn't notice the user profile on the screen with Young Adam's message?

... but yeah, in basket ball terms that was an air ball.

I started making a list with the CD's I have in that Sony CDP-CX355. I've been copying track lists from wikipedia and pasting them in there. GN!'s idea is going to work great for this but I need a cheap way to back that file up. I guess I'll Break it up into regular and classical and jazz. I'm not much for Jazz but I feel like I ought to give it a fair shake.

There's some stuff I'd like to know about what I'm doing. This would be the first file I have ever created. Looking at it's Properties in My Documents tells me that it contains 1 files, 0 folders. I guess I could Google that to understand how that works.

Aside from burning that file to a CD, how can I back that up so that I can update the back up as I add to it? I have a 1GB SD Card with a bunch of pic's that I can move over to Photobucket or burn to CD's. Would the SD Card be good to store stuff on or do I need one of those Thumb Drive toys?

I know this is on par with noobs asking which HTiB is best for <$250. :D

Since you want to be able to update the list, I wouldn't bother burning it to CD. Put it on a SD card or thumb drive. My list has 484 entries and the file is only 250KB, so you don't need much space. If you already have the SD card, use that. I didn't put track listings in my index, so you may have a larger file, with fewer CDs, but you get the idea - your list won't require much space.

I may find the gumption to incorporate the track listings into my list, but that would be pretty ambitious for me. I also mulled over the idea of sliding all the CD inserts into sheet protectors and placing those into a binder (or binders), but that would be pretty bulky. Maybe. Some day.

The file is the actual document you're creating. If you have other similar files, you can group them into folders. I'm assuming that you have MS Office. If you are in "My Documents", right-click on your mouse and a drop down list should appear. One of the options should be "new". Placing your cursor on "new" should give you another drop down list, which should include "folder", "word document", etc. Just click on what you want. Since you haven't created any folders, that's why you don't have any in "My Documents". If you create a folder, you can drag and drop your files into that folder. You can actually create folders within folders, if you want. If you don't use Office, I don't know if other products would work differently. It's easier to demonstrate than to explain, but you'll probably find a better tutorial on that inter-web thingie.

I hope I understood your question correctly, so that I'm not insulting you and embarrassing myself.

I don't. I'm using word pad for this but since you mentioned MS Office I am having an issue with that on my laptop. MS Office Word seems to be the default program for any and all documents but since I didn't buy it it won't let me alter these documents. It doesn't matter if I created the document with WordPad. The laptop is an Asus X83VM-X1. Whenever I open a document it asks me for a 25 character product key and when I don't provide it, it removes the functionality of MSO Word. The first 25 times I was allowed to use it though. Does anybody know how I can get WordPad to be the default program for this on my machine.

I hope I understood your question correctly ...
I think you did and I would show what I have so far but I don't know how to use the attachment thing and I don't want to copy and paste like 4 pages of anything onto the site.

To do per document:
Right click on a .doc file you want to open. Go to Open With... Choose program...
select Word Pad and click "always use this program"... that should do
it.

Another way to change it globally:
Type into the search box "default programs" and click enter.
Select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program"
Scroll down to .txt
Double click it and select Notepad
If it is not available as a choice, then click the browse button and browse to C:\Windows\system32 and select notepad.exe

How in the world did you know that?

I was rerouting my desktops' wiring and noticed a sticker on the back of it with a 25 character product key so I looked for one on the laptop. It was faded and unreadable but there was a phone number so I called their tech support. The guy explained that it was not my lucky day and I wasn't going to get MS Office Word for free. He did however walk me through the steps you just described. It's almost like you got my phone tapped. :D
