EMP E5Ti vs Arx A1?

I've been looking at these for the last couple of days. Please lets just keep it to these 2 speakers companies. Thanks!
The Ugly: Arx A1
or The Pretty: EMP Tek Clearance E5Ti Tower Speakers
I may buy the ARX A1 (have to wait till May), and do a mini shoot out
against the Cambridge S30 - it should be interseting. If I was to make
a wild guess (for the fun of it), I think it would not surprise me, if it did
favor the old Paradigm Mini Monitor. I do not claim to have a golden ear
however, if something sounds wrong or annoying - it will raise a flag. If
I wanted to, I can nitpick the speakers that I own - I just want the sound
to be as close to reality as is possible, due to my budget and enviorment.
I never claimed the Cambridge was perfect - however, it does have that
something - that makes listening to music on a budget, nice and fun.

As far as Emptek, the only one that draws my interest is the E41-B > not
the towers you brought up - however, the same brand name. :)

You guys are very informative. Thank you for chiming in. You learn something new everyday. zieglj01(I was looking at EMP Tek E41-B waiting for a sale though) I'm looking forward to your reviews. Maybe there will be some B stocks of the Arx A1 soon.

I have the Arx A3's with the A2 as my center. I absolutely love them. I do not think anyone who listens to the Arx speakers will be disappointed.

How do they differ from your other speakers? or which one do you compare them to?

For me I would say that they were more detailed than the other ones my friends have. He had some Monitor series Polks that he got that I thought sounded like crap. Bright, tinny, like they (the sound) came from inside a box... Not sure if I described that last bit the way I intended, but I think you'll understand. Axiom's were okay, too damn bright and tinny for my taste as well. Xmas gift from my wife, used them for a bit. Got a hold of some late 80's/early 90's Europe only Cerwin Vega AT series speakers that I LOVED, but they were HUGE. I kind of wanted that same big sound, but more detail and presence and I was not dissapointed in the least. I love the ARX A3's. I have now heard them in 2 different locations with different room dimensions and matrerials and still like the way they sound.
Hope this helps.

Hello Jim, I'm not active in forums but I stumbled upon your posting and wanted to contact you. I too have a pair of Cambridge Audio S30's and I've been pretty happy with them. However, I've been curious about the ARX A1's. I was wondering if you ever got a chance to compare the two like you were hoping. Thanks.

The A1 was discontinued around the beginning of the summer maybe late spring. The new revised A1b should be released any time now. A slightly larger cabinet, redesigned crossover for better midrange resolution, slight deeper extension.

Not yet, I am still thinking about it - I have been waiting,
and I am starting to lose interest, because of the wait.:)
