Another sign of the bad economy

Man, I just drove by my local B&M high-end AV shop and they are closing the doors. They have been here for 65 years, kind of breaks my heart.

Alex, this is the one I took you to.

Lets see, borrow, borrow, & borrow, and then default...LOL.

What do you expect?

Everyone wants to live like Kings these days, but nobody wants to pay for it...LOL.

Something has to give eventually.

You would think that they would "have it down" after 65 years in business...

I never actually stopped by that place, but I've driven past it a few times. Oh well :/

It was a nice place. Marvin Schuster passed away a few years ago and his kids took it over. The kid(I say kid but they are in their 30's and 40"s)that I always dealt with pulled out of the business 2 or 3 years ago so I could no longer get great deals and I quit going there. I don't think I was keeping them afloat but maybe you should have helped just in-case!;)

Perhaps. I don't think my budget would have been big enough to help :D

There are only a very small number of mid to high end audio shops in this area, and this is one of the most populated areas in California. The one I had been going to for about 15 years didn't close, but they sort of closed to the public and that was about 5 years ago. They service mainly custom installers now.

They didn't even acknowledge me when I walked into their store.

You should have went with me or stuffed your wallet with a bunch of paper so it looked bigger...

Actually, once Scott left there, they ignored me, ask Alex.

My brother told me it was probably the t-shirt and jeans. I think the fact I look like I know what I'm talking about when it comes to nerd stuff scared them off.

Unfortunately that leaves us with only Starpower(good service) and Modia(good service) in the area. There are probably a few more small stores, but competition is good for consumers. Maybe if I hit it big I will open up a place, but that may be a while.

I remember that your salesman (Scott?) had moved on. Maybe he saw it coming. The salesman that showed us around had been there a long time. Do you remember that he got testy when I asked him if their floor model displays had been calibrated?

They sure had a lot of Mac gear in there but they had scaled down to the Sig6 for their top Paradigm offering and only a lowly 804 from B&W. I guess it was a sign that the big spenders were a little scarce but their showrooms did have the nicest gear I had ever seen outside of Rick's house. :D

That shop seemed like they had shifted their focus toward displays but I guess that wasn't enough to save them from this economy. Walmart is doing good though, huh?

Yep Scott is one of the youngest son and he had moved on and opened a Medical Supply business likely hoping I would sale for him...lol

The other guy was his older brother, I didn't seem to click with him.

I may stop in there and see if anything is a steal.
