Hey all,

I haven't been posting around here much. I've been mostly working a lot, with a little behind-the-scenes lurking here and the Mustang Source forums most of the time. I hope everyone is doing well.

Anyhoo, I am going to Dallas next month to pick up my 2012 Shelby GT500. :D

I was just wondering from some of you natives if there is anything I should see while I am there.

I wasn't going to be there for more than just to pick up the car but my wife and I decided to stay the night and hit the road the next day, so we will have most of a day to check out some things beyond a bit of delicious BBQ (not sure where to go for that either).

Those Shelby's are a force to be reckoned with, good choice! You better get some pics up for us to drool over!

I have a 2012 5.0, it is definitely fun to drive (even though it's my slow car haha). Here's mine:

Very nice, sir! That is an excellent photo. Looks pretty much just like the desert that will be in the background of my pics. :) I almost bought one just like that - those Brembo wheels are my favorite. My dad has a 2011 5.0 with a Ford Racing adjustable handling kit and a Boss intake - it is a monster! So what's your fast car?

My wife's grandpa has an '09 Shelby, but apparently there is no comparison to the new ones because they changed to the aluminum engine block from the Ford GT in '11. I only have a small idea what I am getting myself into with this Shelby, but I am excited to say the least. Willow Springs, here I come! :D

I will get other pics up for sure. It will be a long drive home from Texas to California, so I will be taking pics the whole way!

Sweet! And the drive home is the perfect break in too!

Just do me a favor. When you change lanes to make a u-turn, look for the motorcycle over your shoulder. I had a bad run in with an '07 Mustang, I went 65 ft over the hood.

Ouch. I hope you are okay. It seems like no matter what the car or where you are, there is always a chance of an oblivious or distracted retard behind the wheel.

Considering what happened, I'm great. But thats an incredibly long story. While I respect the car, I just have an uncontrollable shudder that comes across when someone says 'Mustang.'

Let's get this thread back on topic. Surely you can find someone with some decent recording equipment and give us a nice demo mp3/video of you running that beast through the gears! Enjoy the drive home man!

She's gorgeous! I can't wait to see more pics. Yeah, your motor makes about 50hp more than his and is about 100lbs lighter.

Here's the sleeper:

A T-Bone at The Cattleman in the Fort Worth Stockyards, washed down by some Shiner Bock. Also, for a great Mexican breakfast, Tres Betos on 28th Street (in FW) by the 35 intersection. It looks fumky but the food is great.

Sweet! I thought that you had your eyes on the 2013...hard to wait, eh? :D That's one nice looking car. I've never had the pleasure of driving or riding in a Shelby, but I imagine that it's a real treat.

Sweet. I always thought the Marauder was one of the best sleepers out there. Was the supercharger a rare factory thing or did you put it on yourself? I thought they were all the Mach 1 motors.

Awesome. Thanks for the tip, sir! We will definitely have to check those out. Me like food. :D

Well, it wasn't so much the waiting (I could have a 2013 in the same time frame) as it was the fact that the Shelby is so heavily discounted to make room for the crazy 2013 one that it wasn't far in price from the Boss 302 I was planning on, and my wife much prefers this route because the Shelby has all the "fancies" (nav, leather, etc.) whereas the Boss is pretty stripped down.

I put it on myself, they were all N/A from the factory. Yes, that is the same 32v DOHC that they put in the Mach 1s, with a few minor differences. You're one of the few who even knew they used that motor haha, most people just think it's a cop car. I don't mind though, they end up getting a serious wake up call. :D

When it comes to cars everybody has their preferences and I've never cared much for mustangs. However, That car is beyond badass and there's no arguing it. Congrats, man. I'm sure you'll have all kinds of fun in that thing.

I'd have lots of suggestions of what to do in Dallas if you weren't going with your wife. :p

I'd take that new car and drag race it on Gregs (paradigmdawg) street over and over again. I'd probably pee in his pool too.

Great looking car. Congrats! V8 Mustangs have the best sounding exhausts IMO. Have a safe trip home in the new ride.

Sounds like an awesome road trip. Why you going all the way to Dallas for a Mustang though?

You could always come by my house after you pick the car up. I will get you really drunk on high end booze and then buy the car from you for a price less than you paid a mere few hours before....

Hmmm...that last part is definitely going on the list. :D

I couldn't find a dealer that would sell me one here in Cali for $8k off the MSRP... Jerks.

Well I don't know about that...I have no doubt of your skills as a salesman but booze makes me barf and I have lusted after this thing for far to long, so I just don't see that happening...but maybe we could meet up anyway for dinner or something. :)

I can take you for a spin if you're nice. ;)

You should stop through Tucson on your way. Now that I know that you don't like alcohol, I'll have some soda and fruit juice all ready for you...all of it roofied to the hilt.

Wait, that might be taken the wrong way. Or, worse yet, the right way...

:D

Don't do it. He's got a house full of guns and knives, just looking for his next victim. One minute, you'll be laughing it up, drinking and watching a movie, and the next minute, your kidneys will be on the black market while the rest of you is stuffed in a freezer in his basement

That's just crazy talk.

I don't sell the kidneys.
