Help in completing 5.1 setup

Hey guys long time stalker hoping to solicit some advice from those more experienced than I..

My setup is currently a Pioneer Elite VSX52 powering a pair of Onix Rocket RS750s. For source material I have a Denon dbp1611 universal player, roku xs2, and squeezebox duet. It's in a 16 x 13 room with tile floors that opens up into a 13 x 13 room (also with tile floors). Both have 8 foot ceilings. I use it for both movies/tv and music, about an 80/20 ratio.

I'm not unhappy with this arrangement, but feel that movies are missing that 'wow' factor that would come from proper bass shaking and an immersive sound field. I love music in this system, though the bass does occasionally get muddy.

I'd like to assemble a nice 5.1 setup to complement my current equipment that would last me for several years. For WAF reasons, I will need to have bookshelf surrounds mounted to the wall or ceiling. Budget is around 1500 total, though I'm willing to stretch a little, but no more than 2k.

So..what do you all think to finish this configuration? Any and all advice is appreciated.

So you want to replace your speakers, or just add center, surrounds, and subwoofer?

For subwoofer, I recommend the Rythmik FV12 for $500, which is the only direct servo sub I know of for only $500. For 20-40Hz, it essentially has the same bass output as the F15 ($900).

You can check with places like Ebay for a center channel, for the
Rockets - or look at KEF, and in the future upgrade your fronts.

I agree with the recommendations above. Here are some other options to consider.

If you can find one, an Onix Rocket RSC200 center channel would be timbre matched to your current front speakers.


The SuperZero 2.0 is a very good surround speaker and wall mountable:

I'm just looking to add a center, sub, and surrounds at the moment. I've heard good things about that Rythmik sub on the forums here I'll definitely have to check that out.

The only thing holding me back from searching for a RSC200 is the massive footprint. Even though it's pretty, it wouldn't fly with the woman. The rockets are already pushing it lol.

I'm leaning towards the NHTs for surrounds, and the rythmik sub and with that center would bring me in way under budget. What do you all think of this setup?

I approve.

NHT is great for any application IMO.

Rythmik subs have Q=0.5 & servo, which means high damping & tight bass. Love Rythmik.

And AV123 center should match with you other AV123 front speakers.

If you want to change out the front L/R Rockets, you could get 3 NHT Classic Three's for L/C/R ($900) and two of the SuperZero 2.0 ($200.00) for surrounds.

Then ad this sub ($399.00)....

I have not listened to the Rockets 750 > with NHT or KEF, it would
