I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did just take the time to look at the opening scene I have heard so much about.
Yes, it's brilliant film-making. I don't care what Adam Corolla says. It hooks you in right away, subtle thumping beat in the background, tension, crime, car chase... but not really a 'chase' per-se, it's a driving... subtle game of cat-and-mouse.
I will get a chance to watch the rest over the weekend. It looks like a throwback to the 'exploitation' films that Tarantino likes to lampoon in his movies. But this seems to be done with a little more of a straight face. There appear to a lot of classic muscle cars and thumping beats, I hear it's violent later on but I didn't listen much to the hype... except to hear that this movie is awfully over-hyped. Oh well, I guess I'm contributing to it.
The blu-ray looks / sounds awesome. I'm going to get some quality time with the new Oppo.
