Gotta say, Since streaming Netflix went down the tubes big time, the Amazon Instant Movies thing looks interesting but aside from the movie prices, I cannot find any info o what it takes to join Amazon Prime without signing up for it. That sounds kinda like the Health Care Plan to me.

So, does anyone hav eany experience with Amazon prime and would you please enlighetn me as to what it costs and whatever else I need to know., both pro and con?

Thanks, Gang.

Adam will be along shortly to tell you and the world everything there is to know about all things Amazon. There's a fair chance that he will stay home from work to expound on it in great detail and field questions. :)

Amazon prime is awesome if you use amazon a lot. $79/year. 2 day shipping on pretty much everything sold by amazon, and $3.99/item for overnight shipping.

I've never had issues with netflix which uses amazon to hose actually, but you pay per episode for streaming.

Sorry for the delay - I started working at 4am and just got around to checking AH.

Phillip got you all hooked up. I don't know if they still do it, but Amazon used to offer a free month of Prime quite often. Prime only applies to items sold directly by or fulfilled by Amazon - third party vendors aren't included.

Be careful, though - I never ordered from Amazon until I got it...now I can't stop. :D

Thanks guys. Two more questions.

IS the soun 5.1? I'm goi ng through a Sony 580 an feeing igital coax to my enon.

Secon, I know I pay for movie rente, but when you say "episoe", is that in reference to the TV shows? If nso, how much per episoe, approximately?

As for Netflix using Amazon for streaming, hoccum the netflix streaming movie selection is such a straming pile of useless excrement?

Did your keyboard stop working? :p :D

Some videos are 5.1. I don't use the Amazon video system very often, but the ones that I've seen with 5.1 have that as an option if you download it first, but not if you stream it. My guess is that 5.1 will become an option for streaming, like it has on Netflix.

I've been a Prime member for some time now as well. Definitely worth it, however the selection of FREE media is not nearly as good as what you get with Netflix. Amazon VOD does have some movies available for streaming that Netflix does not, however not all of them are free.

I have amazon prime through my brother in law, he pays for it and can add up to 4 people on his prime acct. so I basically get it for free... but he's the only one that can get the free streaming movies from amazon. But amazon prime is awesome, free 2 day shipping on so much stuff, and amazon's prices are usually really good, but not always. Amazon also has good prices on tv's and other HT gear, I bought my current 73" mits. dlp there and had a wonderful overall buying experience.
