RX-V661 low line out level

I am trying to run a set of powered speakers off my A/V Receiver but I can not balance the powered speakers with the ones running off the amp as the line out is just to low. It's not the speakers either as anything I connect to it (including subs) have to have their gain turned way up in order to be useful.

Is there a cheap line out amp somewhere? Or a preamp on the cheaper side?

Have you been into the speaker menu to make sure the outputs are set correctly? Set them at 0db for a start. There should be a volt out at the line level pre outs at 0 db. The you can turn the other speakers down as required. You should not need a voltage amp between the pre outs and your speakers.

The fact the sub output is low, makes me certain your set up is incorrect.

I can't find any where a setting for the pre outs. Just levels for the speakers. And all the levels are set to nominal 0db.

So I re-read your post and actually thought about it...

I set the speakers and sub to +10db and lowered the other speakers and now im actually somewhere that sounds decent. I think its time to bust out the optimizer mic

Good, but +10 db sounds high for the sub. Do you have the sub volume control turned down?

What receiver to which speakers?

I do have it turned down to reduce the noise its picking up from my cheap cableing. It's a computer speaker sub so...

RX-V661 as in the subject line. Sat's are from a logitech Z-680 set and fronts are another computer set speakers that have internal amps.

It's a temporary solution. lol
