Good to hear you are enjoying your new speakers! I like that you threw some Maiden in on the critical listening evaluations!

I can still remember listening to Chris Isaak's Forever Blue album when I first brought mine home in 1998. If you like his music, I recommend giving that a listen on your new speakers.

I've now watched Master And Commander, Deathly Hallows Part 1, a couple of sitcoms, and the BCS game last night.

I started by having to turn my surrounds (Polk R15s) down about 4-5 db from where Audyssey set them, which I thought was weird. The Polks are much more efficient speakers, but I thought Audyssey would be able to take care of the level differences. Apparently not. I struggled for a while trying to find a good balance but wasn't able to. It seems the Polks either overpower the front speakers or are all but inaudible. I suspect another pair of SuperZeroes may solve this ;)

Across the front, there's a certain tightness to the sound when watching movies I can't quite put my finger on. When I switch back to music they sound really, really good. They sound perfectly normal watching football and sitcoms too. I'm not quite sure what's going on. Maybe I should go run Audyssey again.

I am not a big fan of audyssey - another pair of SuperZero's will help.
The Polk speakers are not coherent sounding.

As an update, I wall-mounted the SZs at the proper height and angled the SC up about 10 degrees or so so that it points right at ear level. This opened it up a little bit.

They really like to be run at a slightly higher SPL than I'm used to.

They like some power - however, due to their low sensitivity and size,
dynamics will be somewhat limited. So in a way, maybe they do sound
tight.

I turned Audyssey's EQ off just now and it helped tremendously. Switching Dynamic EQ on and off is night and day different.
