Integra DTR-40.3 or Yamaha RX-A810

Priorities are sound, reliability and build. Speakers will probably be Totem Mites, PSB Imagine Minis, or possibly Aperion Verus Fortes. Just curious as to what Amp and what speakers more experienced listeners would choose.

Sold all my stuff so I'm starting over from scratch. Any input at all would be appreciated.

Don't know about the Integra but I'd be inclined to setup into an RX-A1000/RX-A1010 over the RX-A810.

Thought about moving up to the RX-A1010 but my budget is around $1200 for 1 pair of speakers and the receiver. My local shop, where I get a pretty good deal also carries Anthem which I would also consider. The problem is that they don't stock Anthem and Integra so I am not able to audition them. I've done alot of research but would like peoples opinions to help in my decision. Just wondering which combination of speakers and receivers would match up the best of the ones I mentioned.

That was my exact thought as i clicked on this thread. Find last years RX-A1000/2000 for a discounted price! If your budget wont allow an RX-A1010 then then the 1000 or 2000 will be GREAT alternatives. I own an RX-A2000 & couldnt be happier!! My buddy has a Integra 50.2 & while its a great receiver, it just doesnt have all the great usable features mine has. I know the Integra .3 series does have improvements but the Aventage line just really stepped things up last year. Not to mention Yamaha's dependability/reliabilty reputation. Integras are still made by Onkyo & they dont have all that great of a track record in comparison. Im not bashing them but it is true.

The RX-A2000 has an incredible Parametric EQ that gives the user amazing flexability in getting things tuned to your room. I have been able to EQ my subs with really accurate results because of it & saved money on having to buy an external sub EQ. I dont think the A1000 has that feature. Im sure you could find an RX-A2000 (last years model) for about the price of the new RX-A810.

Integra's amp section tends to be a bit more robust then Yamaha's but its pretty negligable. Nothing an Emotiva cant cure!!

The RX-A10x0 models do not have sub eq but that's easily solved with a DSP1124 (~$100) or similar device. And as timoteo already mentioned, going with last years 1000 model will save you some coin with only a few features lost.

Thanks for everyone's input so far. Are there any opinions on the speakers that I'm considering which are the Totem Mite, PSB Imagine Mini and Aperion Audio Verus Forte. The only one I have access to listen to is the Mite. I also realize that to get good bass I'll need to add a sub later on, at least with the Mini and the Forte.

I havent heard any of those so i cant weigh in there. You'll need a sub with any of those IMO.
