Subjective, Placebo, Personal taste.....sum it up. He said the difference was not subtle, well unless something is defective and not set up properly, any difference should be subtle. OTOH, it is a Emo owners thread so it is understandable.
Just posted because I found it.

Personally, I would go with old-school Denon POA amps.

With, or without cost being a factor.

So I went to two high end audio shops prior to going to see the Magnolia folks at Best Buy. The first shop pushed The Denon 3312 pretty hard, but didnt have any in stock or hooked up to listen too. The 2nd shop had all Integra pieces and pushed the DTR 70.3 hard at $2400; again not in stock. When I arrived at BB, they only had the Yamaha RX-A1010 in stock, but not hooked up for Demo. Worse yet, the RX-A2010 which I have pretty much made my mind up on, is B/O'd and could be in possibly after Wednesday. None in the Tulsa area either. In a nut shell, I didn't get crap accomplished today:mad:
I use a Z7 in my HT. Love it. There have been various complaints about the unit, but I have had 0 problems with mine. Updates are available from Yamaha if there are firmware problems as far as I know. A couple on ebay.

As far as a new unit, I am a Yamaha fanboy. I have made Yamaha purchases online from Audioholics Store, One Call Audio, and 6thAVE. Pleased with all.

Audioholics Store has been the best when it comes to technical questions.

I have tried to find one of these, preferably a new one, and made an offer on the new one on E-bay, however the seller never got back with me

What is B-Stock ? Is this a Factory Refurbished unit ?
B-stock can be many things. Scratch/dent. Customer return. Dented package. Open-box(for pictures). Or even refurbished. In my experience, a refurbished item is usually listed as so. Many have said they receive B-stock items that have 0 flaws.

Also wondering if I should just pick up the RX-A1010 instead of waiting on a RX-A2010 or buying one on line. Whats the major diff between the two ?
Personally, I would buy a unit online from an authorized dealer on the list I previously posted. I would also pay for the best model I could afford.

Here is a comparison of the 1010/2010.

The offer I submitted on the NIB RX-Z7 was turned down. So we went back to Best Buy this afternoon and spoke with the Magnolia guys. They normally don't haggle a whole lot there, but we paid cash for the Yamaha RX-A2010 and were given 10% off the sale price of $1350. Down side being it won't be in until Tuesday night. 1 Day late for the Michigan/VT Sugar Bowl Game :(

From another Yankee---
Remember---- Long after you forgot all about the score of that game you will still be enjoying your awesome receiver!!

Looking to replace my Pioneer Elite VSX-49TX with a new Yammy 3010 or 2010 myself.

Truth be known, it was a kick in the crotch financially when the 2600 let go. However, it has presented an opportunity to purchase a better piece with advanced technology that will be enjoyed hopefully for years to come. I think the fact that the Salesman who sold us our ML speakers was there when we went back for the receiver helped us secure the additional 10% discount off of the sale price.

I don't know if this is factual or not; but when we bought the EM ESL's, the Motion 8 CC, and the Motion 2 rear's I asked for a Christmas package sale price, and was told ML pricing is fixed for everyone. As a kind gesture, he submitted everything with a significant discount and it suprisingly went through.

Been a little over a week now since I hooked up the new RX-A2010 receiver. The sound and clarity are pheonominal, and even the picture quality seems better coming through the receiver than it did simply coming in through the cable box. I cycled through several CD's, and slipped in my "Open Range" DVD. The gunfight in town at the end of the movie has never sounded, or looked so realistic. I am sti;; playing with things, but up to this point I am very satisfied.

As you know, Yamaha makes excellent equipment in that price range and are the envy of the industry in terms of reliability and build quality. Congrats. :)
