Have I made a huge mistake?

I purchased a McIntoch MA6500 (my first real quality receiver). I intended on using it to enjoy my CD collection. AFTER purchasing the unit I noticed it was 100% analog. There are no optical inputs whatsoever. What did I lose? Will I be getting the best possible enjoyment out of my CDs? Should I put the brakes on the deal?

CD's are 2 channel stereo there is no difference between using analog or digital soundwise. Besides if it's a legit Mc it probably has very good analogs on it.

Technically it's not a receiver but a Integrated Amplifier since it's doesn't have a ratio
but yea - McIntoch is good stuff.

Phew! I really didn't want to pump the brakes, so I'm glad to hear that I'll be fine. Yes, it is an Integrated Amp. Pardon my newbness. Any recommendations for a Mc CD player to pair it up with? If I go with a Mc CD player, am I getting any additional quality or am I just paying for the name and the aesthetics? I would like for the player to match the unit, but I obviously don't need SACD or even digital out.

The only mistake was having it shipped to the wrong address. I'd be happy to provide a correct one(my own) :D

Any standard cd player should work. I really wish I didn't have my huge one. Go small is my recommendation.

Since OP invested heavily into the amp - I'm curious what speakers do you have?

Going with matching cd player - well - totally not necessarily, but I won't rec a cheap one ether since you'd be relying on built-in DAC - so get one with a good solid one..
I'd rec to look for older Oppo dvd players
I mean BDP-93 would be fine too, but is an overkill

10-4... I was really thinking an MCD201 would look and sound amazing with it, but I hear you and will head the advice. If you were going to buy a small one, what would you go with?

Nothing wrong with getting an MCD201 if you have a deal on it. I like having matching components and it will probably never break.
An older Oppo might be worth a look.

My speakers will be upgraded when I can afford it... Right now they are KEF C7's. They should sound great with this, but I know the Mc is better than they are. I'm going one step at a time. Make sense?

Any suggestions are welcomeon the speakers and the CD player. I'm only 2 years into the learning process.

KEF's a good brand. If you like the C7s you'll really love the higher end stuff. I really love their eggs for my home theater. Someday they will depart for DIY surrounds, but for now they are amazing.
