As for the XLR to RCA adapter, I am not sure there. Is it possible that there is a input selector? I don't recall as it has been so long since I looked at the rear panel of my EP2500. Do you only have the one adapter? It is possible it is faulty.

Craigslist, people!!! I actually bought the second one for $275!!! HAHA. It works perfectly and the guy I bought it from was simply trying to sell off a few of his 'toys'.

I am reading about JL's fathom f212 to get the dimensions of that box. I will have to modify a little bit to fit my space (27.5w x 15.125h opening coming from inside a closet).

I have no issues with my RCA to XLR cable going to the A500. You sure you hooked up the pre-out and not the input(I've really done this)

Also noteworthy: today I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a JL audio senior tech (Barry) getting an education about all this stuff. With regards to the enclosure, he recommended a sealed sub built "slightly bigger than our fathom f212 design". He really emphasized proper timing in the room and he RAILED against Behringer extensively for being cheap.

As I try to buy an EP4000/2500 I do agree it's cheap and they knock off a lot of products, but there are diamonds in the rough so to speak. I'd not argue with him on his point though. I even got mad because my dad wanted one of their mixers and my brother bought it before I could get the mackie.

If I weren't a cheap man I'd buy an IPR. The designer defended his design on an av forum. Showing he really cares about his work.

If you have the latest .net framework you can use Siberian's Speaker designer to help you get the right size. Unfortunately my laptop has a corrupted OS so I can't even use my own software on it. Just do a search and it should come up.

I really need to work on it more.

Assuming that is right you will need a net enclosure volume of 4.6ft^3. If you will keep the airspace divided in the single enclosure each sub will need 2.3 ft^3.

What is the dimension of the opening?

I will have to keep my eyes out on craigslist!

Yes, that is correct. I am now doing DUAL 12w7's. The opening is 27.5"w x 15"h. Don't forget to account for the 1.5" piece of wood going across the bottom.

I’ve looked at winISD and sadly its all gibberish to me, size is not an issue if that helps, Ill sacrifice looks for performance all day!!

Just picked up a DCX2496 from Amazon Prime... great deal at ~$250! Wow this thing looks complicated. I've never used one. Can someone tell me if my cable list is correct:

Receiver --> RCA to XLR --> DCX2496 --> XLR to XLR or 1/4" --> subwoofer

From the DCX to the EP2500 you will need XLR Female to XLR male

Got my dcx2496 plugged in and turned on. I am REALLY new at this, can someone please offer me some guidance on how to use it? My bass seems loose and is definitely a lot less loud than before. I need help wading through all these settings!

The DCX does take some getting used to.

input gain: Set this to 0db for now on the input you have selected
make sure that you have your Receiver's sub output set to +5 or so. It is possible you may need to increase this by 3db or so.

Output gain: Start this at 0 for now, you can always increase as needed.

Amplifier: Make sure that the high pass filters are all disabled on the Behringer amplifier. Then set the gain at the 11 o'clock or 12'oclock position.

EQ: This you cannot set until you get some room measurements. You will need to chart the room response with no EQ applied to know where EQ should be applied and at what level.

quick question, are you building the box according to JL recommended factory sepcs or are you compensating any enclosure space for HT application? I'm trying to do something similar here with a prebuilt JL Prowedge box..

I'm lost in this thread:

- If you are still having hum issues, I got a little magical device called a ground loop isolator for the cable line that worked wonders. I got it at partexpress but I was having trouble trying to find the exact one on their website.

- The basic setup for the DCX is pretty straightforward. I remember there was a good write-up on this in this forum or Home Theater Shack which walked through setting up an initial low-pass X-ovr and input/output gain. Everything that you will need to protect the JL from damage and get a little more adjustability due to the unbalanced/balanced line issues when you introduce pro audio gear. Then you will have to do the room eq stuff which will take a lot longer and a little more advanced setup with the DCX.

-IMO, putting two subs through the one hole is not a great idea. If you are set on 2 subs then they should be left/right subs (if that's possible). Maybe you are planning on doing that but it is not clear in previous posts.

Hope that helps... I just went through what you did with my JL 13" build. But you are adding in a lot more complexity with an 'under-the-stairs' build and adding in extra subs.
