outdoor loudspeaker setup to mimic neighbors hound

Hello forum, I live in a small, compacted space in Yorba Linda, where my neighbor that lives across the street from my house cleverly bought a hound that outputs a howl with a intensity along the lines of 90dB. Often, it has been the case that they will allow the dog to erupt at 6:00 in the morning. Needless, to say that after a year of this unending pattern, I've had enough. So, I would like to set up a loudspeaker that will playback the dogs howl with the same intensity and have it placed in my front yard. I plan to have the loudspeaker concealed in one of those synthetic rock that can be bought from Home depot in order to prevent it from being ruined from the elements. But, does anyone know how to setup a wireless transmitter to something like a bullhorn loudspeaker? I would like to be able to playback audio from my computer. I would appreciate any help I can get

I can sense that you and I think alike. Before going the "fight noise with noise" route (which tends to breed bad will), a couple of questions: have you talked to your neighbor about it, and/or have you called the police? You could look into the noise ordinances if you haven't already. I took a quick look online, and it looks like your town puts higher restrictions on noise before 7am. Also, where I live, barking dogs have their own regulations - perhaps that's true for your neighborhood, too.

The police likely won't do anything about it. In our area, animal control says you can get a petition from other neighbors signed to the same fact and they will pay a visit to the person in question.

What about the other neighbors around both of you?

Have you thought of engaging in a howling contest yourself? Buy a megaphone and when he starts howling. Howl back.

You could also buy earplugs and insulate your house better. Personally I like the howling contest.

If you're going to go all sonic vigilante with the neighbor, why not spare others in the area and get one of these cool devices:

The big array can direct a very narrow beam of up to 100db! And screw the yapping dog playback. Try Sabbath or Minnie Ripperton.

[Seriously, don't harrass the neighbors. I have neighbors with a teenager who just got a TA with a pair of horrible sounding woofers. He would sit in the driveway and blare it to horribly distorted levels. I ended up befriending him. Not only is he now more respectful, but I helped him calibrate and tweak his car system for better performance.]

I wonder if this means it's not localizable to the listener. I'm imagining the poor dog owners wondering why they hear Ozzy in their heads at deafening volume every time they step out the front door.

Whatever you do, make the installation of whatever you decide obnoxiously invasive. If you can run a dozer through their yard, even better.

As funny as I think this is, it probably shouldn't be done. I can't wait to see the pictures of it.

Yep, that's why I loved it. I envisioned having him think that the devil himself was talking to him. I figured that others could hear the sound bounce off his head, but if I kept the volume low enough, he could hear it but no one else would.

Yeah, I really hated that hot tub. Well, still do, but I'm calmer now.
