If given these options, which would you choose?

HPS-10SE

SoundWare

CS-Sub10

Yes, $200 is a sad budget for a sub, but it's the current situation. Any opinions, or wait it out for a better deal elsewhere?

Just get the Dayton 12" form parts-express. It covered me while I was building my sub. ;)

With a name like "collegeaudio"...maybe it would help to clarify where/how you're going to use it? Maybe your name is a red herring, but using a sub for, say, listening to music in a dorm room will lead to different advice than, say, playing music for a big party.

Sub-$200 budget doesn't leave much room; Dayton subs are a common suggestion, but for some purposes the ultra-cheap Monoprice subs might be OK.

Waiting for a better (more expensive) sub probably isn't bad advice, but the Monoprice subs are practically disposable and apparently sound...good enough for <$100 sub. They'd do to fill out the bass on small speakers and for a little bit of boom in a small space.

The name is more budget oriented than listening oriented, however, it is fair to say 60% of the time it will be used in a dorm room and the other 40% of the time it will be for a larger bedroom.

The plan right now is a pair of Infinity 363 towers, a sub, and eventually two more bookshelf speakers. Although this all needs to be pieced together very slowly, for the college budget reason.

I maintain a thread for budget subwoofers, where the price is $300 or less. It contains a tremendous number of options, so perhaps there's something listed that will suit your needs.
