Yamaha AV Receivers

I have owned six Yamaha AV Receivers so far (the late 2095, then the 3300, the 4600, the 3800, the 3900 and finally the A1000). Never had any problem with them. I Just made replaces to profit the new technologies. But the last one (the RX-A1000) has just let me down. After approx. 6 months of usage it now refuses to play any sound, just video. I've done what is possible for me to try to solve the problem, but I had no success at all. I checked all connections and commands and found no problem. I just found out that when I turn it on it does not display the "Cinema DSP" logo and also "Adaptive DCR" with the indication of the connected speakers. No sound at all.
Here where I live there's no technical assistance for this equipment, not even in Sao Paulo (Brazil), as this AV RX-A1000 is still a new device that can not be found here.
Can anyone help me and give me some idea of what I could try to go around this problem (or do I have to forget about it...)?
tks a lot!

Two things, make sure that the HDMI out is set to off, other wise the receiver tries to send the audio to the TV. For audio to appear at the receiver's speaker terminals, paradoxically HDMI out has to be set to off.

If that does not work, try a reset to factory default and see if that solves it.

If that does not work and you do not get audio even from the FM radio, then the device has a major fault and will need to be sent back to where you got it from for replacement.

Thank you!
Unfortunately it's the third option, that is, I have to send the receiver for repair or replacement.

That's a pity, but it happens. I suspect the regulator board supplying the preamp stage is down.

sfalcon,

I have the same Yamaha RX-A1000, mine still works (fingers crossed) I spent some time going through the menu and I can't duplicate this issue.
With or without "Adaptive DRC" and "Cinema DSP" I have sound at all speakers.

Just a thought, but I'm sure you looked into this... Could it be routing all sound to Zone 2?

Another thing I suggest is to test the pre amp outs vs. the internal amp. This will let you know is the signal is still being generated or if it is just the internal amp that died.
