So let's see, what constitutes a pair of front "DREAM SPEAKERS"?

In my case, with $1500 in the Denon 4311, and $900 into the EMO XPA-5, plus some monoprice cables, say total = $2500 and that does not include the new gigaport switch/router/bd player, more cables... but for the sake of it say $2500.

Say Dream Speakers should be around 60%, and equip. 40% or so. Then that means my front main DREAMS should be around = $ 3750

Oh, that $2K deal is Aperion Verus Grand Towers at $1800 delivered, and if you do not like them they pay the shipping back! So, you can audition them in your room w/ your acoustics, can't ask for much more ideal situation, for 30 days... and listen, and listen more... and either keep them or call UPS truck for pickup.

Now, I would rather spend $2K instead of $3.6K if I can to get some fine Dream Speakers up front -- but that is my dilemma of where I am at.
!
Denon 4311 is $2100 + XPA5 is $900, total electronics is $3000.
If I'm following correctly, and going by these two posts, these; HT2 - pricing should be Denpuresounds dream speakers.

If I could afford them, this discussion would be over. Well, for me anyway.

$4K for a pair of those?

I would get a pair of the Philharmonic 2 for $2K + 2 Rythmik subs for another $2K.:D

Understand about all being different -- do you know of anyone that has stated the VGT Aperion Towers are just "Average" speakers? Every report/review/owner I have read/chatted with LOVE their VGT Towers? :)

All reviews/reports have rated them up where the Revel Salon 2's are at 4.5/5 Stars!! Do you think they are that GREAT? Looks like they measure right in there with the Salons, but don't weigh quite as much.
There are different kinds of Average. Aperion Towers are certainly better than anything you would find in nearly any big box. I'd gander they are better than most of the speakers I've heard in home theater stores.

But 900 dollars is a tall order for a 3-way speaker to be dream level. Aperion does offer a free trial which is worth it IMO. Those speakers will be better than the speakers of almost everyone you know. If you're considering it go ahead and give it a go. You don't need the XPA-5 to drive them either. Just get a solid receiver and maybe an XPA-3 if you really want it. There is no need to drive surrounds with an external amp.

I'm not buying anything that big which has to ship from outside the US.

I'm not willing to pay the extra $$.

I don't need to fill a stadium.

I've heard the bass from my Salon2 and Orion3, and I love the bass from my Rythmik more.

How can one go wrong with the Aperion VGT's at $1800 delivered. After reading about 4 or 5 reviews/writeups, it has me very close to pulling the trigger on them.

Five drivers, curvilinear enclosure in high gloss cherry, 3 way w/ xovers at 375 and 1.8kHz., dual bass reflex ports, full MTM D'Appolito design w/ dual 6" Kevlar woofs to bring up the bottom end, not that I will need that with the dual subs here, and Flat as KANSAS they say... nothing I have read that is Negative but very little in the Hometheater Review article.

Just want to see some other plots on Phase, Off-Axis, Linearity, Polar if they have it, CSD plot if they have it, Distortion THD+N...and then I might be there.
