I'm thinking of replacing my Onkyo TX-SR706B with the Yamaha RX-V667, because I want to have surround sound for headphones.
Is there anything I mine lose using the RX-V667 over the TX-SR706B?

Headphones are stereo bud.

I'll admit to being a bit of a Yamaha fanboy and would take the 667 over the Onkyo any time. But it seems to be a lateral move to me.

Silent Cinema is over rated IMO. It's a bit of a clever novelty at first, but it gives a rather false sense of spaciousness to music and doesn't compare to similar soundfield setting used by speakers. While I perfer PLIIx when using speakers the same doesn't hold true for headphones. I use Pure Direct or stereo for that purpose.

It seems to me except for the difference in features it will be a lateral move in terms of sound quality and power output. Onkyo has Audyssey and a phono input that I would prefer but I think the Yamaha has 2 more HDMI input (6) than the Onkyo (4)and if the silent cinema is the one feature that makes you happy then it may be a good option.

Overall the 667 has a better and more up to date feature set than the 706B. If you can get enough money selling the 706B such that you won't have to pay more than $200 then in my opinion it is worth the switch.
