Seriously, I have no life.

Bob does put that little chip in his amp to make them sound like tube amps , so his amps do not sound like the low end stuff ))
Well, if that is how the amp is set, by the way, it is not a chip, but a 1/2 Ohm or 1 Ohm resistor in the output and then the amp will follow the speaker's frequency response very well.

I went through a few of the posts, but I'm being lazy don't want go through all of them. Have you mentioned your room conditions? Bare floors, blank walls, no furniture etc,..

If you're able to, add some dampening/sound absorbing materials like carpeting, wall treatments, curtains/drapes, more furniture. That 'should' help to tone down the brightness.
By far the best suggestion in this entire thread! I follow the advice above and second the suggestion that as far as taming the bright sound: room dynamics that will have the most impact. There are absorption panels widely available but prior to dropping $ on a pricey solution try hanging pillows or fabric in areas. Audioholics has a lot of reviews of acoustical products: link here.

Also try toeing in/out the mains as that may change the perception of brightness (changing the sound stage and sweet spot).

Lastly, you to turn down the treble setting on the AVR (assuming it has that setting).

Well instead of JUST waiting for the sub to come in, start playin around with the room & placement of speakers!!!!

Seriously do what was recommended it may open your eyes to things. Try this, hang a bunch of thick blanckets all over the room. (its just temporarily) then listen.......

Well, I tried all the suggestions made here:
Tried toeing in the speakers, my floor is carpeted but I still moved the rug from the main floor and covered the large windows with blankets but that did not effect the sound. The 'W' factor was not very happy with all the mods :p.
So, I decided to change the speakers. I auditioned B&W 683 towers at a local store and this time I took my own cd and listened to music in 2 channel mode for about 30mins. They were connected to Rotel receiver and sounded bit more musical than the paradigm monitors I have. I can get the B&W 683 towers and HTM61 center for around $1900 including all taxes. Do you guys think this will be noticable upgrade? In the store they were connected to Rotel receiver and may not have been properly broken in. At home i will be using them with Pioneer Elite VSX-43TX receiver.
Any suggestions?
I have received my SVS PB12-NSD sub and it is one excellent sub.

How come you bought the Paradigm speakers if they sound bright?:D
Hi AcuDeftechGuy, I presently own a Marantz SR 5009. Will the 5009 be good to drive a Paradigm Monitor 11 S7 with a room size 14 X 15 X 10.

I listen to music at low - moderate levels and i watch movies louder.

or should i end up with a Monitor 9 ??
