Whole house audio connection question

Greetings:

I have an Onkyo TX-NR609 AV/receiver, this receiver is 100 w x 7 at 8ohm and is capable of powering two zones at the same time.

My house has 10 main areas (patio and garage included) in the first floor and 6 dorm rooms in the second floor, I want to have background music in the whole house with one type of music in the first floor and other type in the second, since my receiver can play 2 zones at the same with different sources I think I can use my receiver with PRO-8HP speaker selector for the first floor and PRO-6HP for the second. Im also planning to use one Polk Audio RC6s stereo in ceiling speakers for each room.

I did the math and if I use 8 zones in the first floor at the same time I’ll get 10 w per channel for each area in the first floor and 16.7 w per channel in the second.

My question is, Im I assuming the right thing??, If I want to use the 14 speaker pairs at the same time, can i use them without my receiver burns or automatically shuts down??

Thank you very much for all your help.

You might want to rethink this whole idea.

Zone capability notwithstanding, you only have seven channels of amplification available in that box. Assuming fourteen speakers on each channel, that boils down to about 7 watts per speaker.

And, you do realize, don't you, that if you're playing all seven channels at the same time, there's no way in hell that each channel is putting out anywhere near 100 watts each.

Also, power is lost in the switches themselves.

Finally, you can't just arbitrarily assign each amp channel to whatever channel you want. You get one front powered left and right, one surround left and right, one rear left and right, and one center channel. You might be able to reassign the rear left and right to a stereo pair for own channels, two of which will be useful for a stereo zone two, but you still have only seven channels, four of which are available for what you want to use.

Strongly consider John A's suggestion.

Of course, I could always be wrong.

You'd have to dedicate the front L/R to the PRO-8HP speaker selector, and Zone 2 to the PRO-6HP. They are impedance matching, so when hooked to all those speakers it's not going to be extremely loud, as Mark mentioned.
Though you mentioned in your post that it was for 'background music' so it should work out.

Thank you all for replying, sorry Im kind of newbee with the whole house audio concept.

I thought of another way, instead of using Polk stereo speaker for each area, Ill use normal in ceiling speakers, that way I dont have to split the Front channel and zone 2 of my receiver in such many stereo connections, I know I wont get stereo sound in any room but as I said is for background music not for critical listening.

What you guys think? please let me know.
