Looking for a small sealed subwoofer

Im looking for a sealed small size subwoofer . I was thinking few brands like: Dynamo 700, REL R-205 , SVS SB12-NSD. Can anyone give me little feedback on a small size sealed subwoofer to go alone with my Vienna Acoustics Grand speakers: Haydn, Maestro, Waltz. Im not looking for a subwoofer to shake my house down, just one that will blend nice with the speakers and give good bass for HT when watching blue-ray disc.
Any other brands to look in to i would like to stay under $800 new or used.

thank you

What is your definition of small? Also, what is the size of the room and your listening tastes/habits?

I think the Martin Logan Dynamo 700 is the new version of the old Dynamo, which was a good little sub. I think it played low, but not necessarily loud. The Dynamo also has the option of the wireless swt. It's tiny and light.

The Rythmik is a little more than budgeted, and may not be in stock, but worth looking into -http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/subs/f12se.html

I've never heard the Emotiva Subs, but from what I've read in reviews they made trade offs for more volume vs. lower frequencies. Which would make them better for home theater or for filling a larger space. Not sure if the new X-Ref series is the same.

Don't know anything about the REL other than what i just read on the site. Wish REL would publish better specs. It sure is tiny, and comes in nice finishes, definately high WAF.

I haven't heard the svs, but the specs are good and SVS has a good reputation. I heard the old dynamo at a dealer in a roughly 12 x 14 closed room. It sounded quite good, but I wasn't pushing it, and I was there to listen to some maggies so I didn't pay too much attention to it.

The Dynamo 1000 seems to measure pretty well based on these reviews

Haven't found anything on the 700.

Only concern would be how either would do in an open environment.

For less than $800 you can get two Emo Ultra 12's. These fared very well in the Audioholics sub shootout last year. The clearance prices of $379 make them even more attractive. While they won't quite do the siesmic HT bass below 30 Hz, I think that above that (for most music), and particularly for the price, they are hard to beat right now.

Good lookin' room.

what about REL r-205 i can get one locally for $700. But i was reading some reviews about how it doesn't have too much output for HT but i does blend nicely with Viennas especially with Neutrik connection and LFE . would anyone recommend R-205 over SVS ?

Either of the SVS or the ML is going to give you more bass than you have now. Neither will get real loud low down in that space. I think with realistic expectations (which you seem to have) you won't be disappointed by either. One point is with the wireless option of the ML it might be easier to add a second one down the line if you want to add more volume and/or even out bass nulls in your room.

so i take that 10 inch ML and 12 inch woofer of SVS won't make much difference for me in my room . I think i will try dynamo 700 first from magnolia and see how it playes and if i don't like it i return it and get SVS . I just wish magnolia will have some kind of sale Black Friday sale ????

Since your room is open to other rooms id get the SVS over the ML for sure. SVS subs are very musical & a 12" sealed from them will fill your space nicely!!

To me it looks like you could place a second sub next to the arm of the couch in the back corner by the tree? If thats the case then once you do get a sub, place it on the couch, play some bass tones & walk around listening to the bass up front by your Viennas & back by the tree. Place it in the best sounding spot. If both sound strong & clean then save for a second sub & you'll have very powerful & flat bass in a larger seating area!

Just a thought!:)

Don't say stuff like that! I almost coughed out a lung because I had a mouthful of water when I read this. :p

Wonder if those ever go on sale. My last one costs me a ton of money, but that was after my purchase... :D

Velodyne MiniVee is 1' cube, but the SVS NSD is tough to beat at the price.

now will the MiniVee outperform SVS SB12-nsd ??

so im reading some review on a MiniVee 10 inch and i might conside that one too. anyone own MiniVee 10 inch ? so i think at this point is svs SB12-nsd or MiniVee 10 inch
