Cinch - jack cable, can it mess up the receiver?

Hello, I recently started a thread here, about problem with Technics receiver "Overloading".

We found out, the receiver is messing up, only when computer is connected trough jack-cinch cable, that is probably messing up the receiver. From what i know, when you connect speaker, headphones and similiar things to PC trough jack, trough the cable is also going some amount of power, to supply the speaker, when its going to receiver, it doesnt have any protection from power, on the (lets call it audio signal) connectors, what do you think?

Can this be the problem?

We just tried to measure it, and it really is showing some voltage, when running from PC trough jack-cinch, and there is none when playing from CD player, trough proper cinch-cinch cable.

Could this really be making the receiver overload?
If so, how to work it around, since I just ordered new TV, along with home server, where music/movies will be stored. I need some solution, because the server will still have only jack outputs -_-

What is a "jack-cinch cable"?

The PC's volume level may be too high. Turn it down a bit (maybe to 70%) and see if the Onkyo still shuts off.

+1. This is most likely the cause of overloading.

Okay, will try what happens, and I have Technics, not Onkyo, altho it doesnt make any difference probably :-D

In my life, I have never heard anyone call RCA jacks 'cinch' connectors and I've been in the A/V business for over 30 years. Amazing.

It doesn't matter, other than the fact that the Technics name must have bounced off of my eyeball. Or brain- not sure which, at this point.
