lookng for medium surround sound
What exactly do you mean by medium? Do you mean cost?
Would they pair well with 2 PSB IMAGE 1B SPEAKERS as front speakers?
Tough to say. Based on the specs, they roll off below 110hz so they might have some issues integrating to a subwoofer correctly. This sounds like a good part of why you said you need "rear and front" subwoofers. If you get surround speakers that can hit the 80hz mark with meaningful output, it can make a big difference in system integration. Placement relative to wall has a big effect too.
If not what size woofers and tweeters or horns and speaker manufacture would you recommend for fronts/center?
Whoa there! Slow down.
Let's consider a few things
-Budget
-Placement
-Amplification
- I recommend front speakers be capable of ~98db peaks at your listening position (105db for a really badass reference system) and extend smoothly below 80hz. So you need to describe the room
- I recommend flat on axis frequency response, smoothly tapering off axis frequency response, and clean, low distortion behaviour.
- I recommend surrounds that can dissapear. I think you only need four surrounds.
- I recommend two or three truly good subwoofers. Combined it should sound like there is no subwoofer, but rather bass eminating from the center of the room.
What kind of aesthetic limitations do you have? Budget? Placement?
Sorry for all the questions, but its hard to know what a good home theater system should sound like, when you haven't heard one.
Think about it. Speakers should sound "like the real thing" (though there's no consensus on whether that real thing should be in your room or you're in the environment of the recording - that's more of a preference thing I suppose). Subs shouldn't really make much sound at all, contrary to popular belief. If you can easily notice when your sub is on, chances are it's setup poorly.
