Replace jack on MDR-V6?

So I have on old pair of Sony MDR-V6, and I snapped the jack off on a flight. (I have a pic of the headphones, but the forum won't let me post it since this is my first thread). I was devastated since otherwise they work perfectly. I was hoping the forum would help me on how to go about replacing the jack as I have no idea where to start and would like to salvage them.
Thanks!

FYI- headphones have a plug, not a jack. A plug goes into a jack.

You might want to call Sony, so you can have the same kind of cord installed. They have a few service centers around the country and it would be more durable if you get the OEM style cord because it has a molded-on plug.

This is a very simple diy if you are handy with a soldering iron. The plug itself should be no more than $5 at the local Radio Shack. Take the headphones in with you and the rep can point you to the replacement part.

Step by step instructions here.

A knowledgeable person at Radio Shack? Really? I though they only wanted to sell phones.

I did'nt say that, instead, I asked the OP to take the headphones along for "show and tell" :D. I have found that their reps are well aware of the general placement of items ;).

The one near my place has a cute chic, so I went there for looking for my multimeter's fuse and she damn near pointed me to the exact drawer .

thanks for all the suggestions, though the plug is a bit more complicated than shown in the instructions. I may have to call Sony one day...
