Coaxial cable through surge protector

My cable guy said NOT to run the coaxial cable through my surge protector. He said it'll mess up on-demand channels and cause pixelation with the higher numbered digital channels and some other stuff.

Is he an idiot or shouldn't I run the cable through the surge protector?

Thanks

He is correct.
Just make sure the coax grounding block is properly grounded.

like was said,he's right,

there is a significant signal loss running through a surge,

HD channels are very sensitive to the slightest signal drop, the less between the main cable and the cable box ,the better off you are.

I would think that depends on the surge protector with older ones being more problematic. Since you have the unit, I'd plug it in and see what happens.

I would recommend you use a surge suppressor like this:

212FF75F22521 Technicals

My company sells these exact same surge suppressors (but with our company logo on them) to cable companies worldwide.

I agree. You might as well try it both ways to see if there's any noticeable difference. I have my OTA antenna feed running through my surge protector without any issues.
