Advice on Home Theater & Receiver System

Hi All -

I am new to this group. I currently have the following:

1. KDL46W4150 [46'' LCD TV with 120 Hz Motionflow 1080p]
2. DAV-HDX576WF [Sony Home Theatre System]

I am trying to replace the Home Theatre System. It is 3 years old, but I was never happy with the sound and the quite often the 'wireless' rear speakers would lose connection. On music with deep bass this system was pathetic, on others I have never had the 'crystal clear sound experience'.

My requirements are the following:

1. 5.1 Channel
2. Good output for classical/blu ray audio [not quite well versed on the technical lingo - Mid range/hi range, etc.]
3. Wireless if possible
4. Not the big size speakers, looking for small footprint in the house [as I live in an apartment]

Just as an FYI, need not be these specifically but I have seen the following:

1. Bose LifeStyles, but haven't read great reviews on them for the price I pay.
2. JBL CS480BG High Performance, complete 6-Piece Home Theater Speaker System with Brackets (Black Gloss)
3. Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Theater System (Set of Six, Black)
4. Polk Audio RM705 5.1 Home Theater System (Set of Six, Black)

Thank you in advance for your advice!
Chintu

You live in an apartment, so tons of bass or volume isn't really something you can do.

Try this:

HSU VTF-1 $400
4x Infinity P163: $340
1x Infinity PC251: $150
Yamaha A800: $400

Total: $1290

Thank you for the quick response Jon.

Are these all wireless setup for the speakers? Also do you happen to know which HSU VTF model?

jonnythan gave you a good suggestion. If you want you could make additional
You'd get much better results with wired setup - as you said your apt already having issues with wireless speakers connection - probably indication of some electro-magnetic interference from possibly bad wiring, cellphones, Microwaves radios - etc...

- PS3
- Wii

Do you think 2 HDMI inputs are enough in that case as is the case with the Yamaha A800.

For your purposes, I think you're much better off starting with a higher end 2 channel setup in your budget..
