5.1 system built around Pioneer VSX-821

Hi to all,

I would like your advice on the following speakers and AVR

Receiver Pioneer VSXC-821
Paradigm Cinema 90 for front and back
Paradigm Cinema 110 for centre
Ed 12" subwoofer A2-300
Room dimensions 14W x 25L x 8H 2800 cubic feet

Budget $1500

Good Choices. I don't see any real problem with them at all. The only thing that you might have to play with is blending the subwoofer with the main speakers. Let your ears be the judge on that one. That Pioneer 821 is a lot of receiver for the price and it has lots of adjustability.

I'd have trouble spending $1500 a setup that included main speakers with what appear to be 3 or 4 inch "woofers."

A single 3-4" woofer is not going to do an awful lot for you as your main speakers.

Cormoran, did you mean $1500 max available for a system? Or is that what you spent or will be spending on that system? If that is what the system will cost, then I'd do some bargaining or do some more looking around for better main speakers.

I had thought of these models for size and price. What would you think a better choice? Would a bookshelf size speaker be better? Any brand you could think of?

$1500 is the maximum available for the whole system.

I'm down with the receiver and the sub. I think that 4 Infinity P163s and a PC351 center would be better for HT though.
