I am researching BD Players that will play:

1.) NetFlix Streams in HD 5.1 DD+ Audio (like Panasonic 110/210 Models) and also

2.) Play .AVI and .MP4 files via DLNA Win7 Server (like LG BD 5XX/6XX Models)

Does anyone know of a BD player that will do both NOW?

HTPC with BD drive

You may not want to spend this much money but something like a Dell Zino with a blu ray drive might be what you need. If you want maximum flexibility, it's hard to beat a HTPC with a wireless keyboard. You name it, the HTPC will pretty much play it plus you get a large hard disc for your video (and music) which makes for a great server.

Oppo bdp-93

Looks like OPPO will make a firmware change to their player hopefully soon to support NetFlix HD 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus Audio as follows.

Per OPPO yesterday they state the following about their BDP-93 Player:

1. At this time, the player will only support standard Netflix and stereo PCM audio. We will be upgrading the firmware on the player in the future to allow for 1080p and 5.1 audio, but we do not know when this firmware will be released.

2. Yes, this player will support these media formats.

3. You can find a list of supported media formats at:

I have plenty of TeraBytes of Storage and an Intel i7 Core HP box now which is working great. Am either going the OPPO BDP-93 or LG BD-670 Player route when they get their firmware working for NetFlix in so that the Audio will be output via HDMI in DIG HD 5.1 Digital Dolby Plus. I do know that either one of these Players will play .AVI and .MP4 files, but both models are waiting for Firmware Upgrades to support the NetFlix streams in HD5.1 Audio and 1080p.

The PS3 currently does 5.1 audio right now, but it may not be the right choice for a player for you. Audio is NOT TrueHD, it is DD+, HD being lossless and DD+ being 640K.

Yeah, DenPureSound is retired, he can play video games on the PS3 all day long, after he mows his yard, go gambling, get a smoke, and work on his computers and network.:D

It's not like he has any kids or jobs or anything like that.:D;)

ADTG -- you have more $$ in your speakers alone than I have in my HOME, Riding Lawn Mower, Computers/Network, let alone the monies I have lost in Gambling on Craps -- never get jealous and if you listen to me you will be in early retirement at age = 51, and beat me by one year.:eek:

But I want you to keep working and pay for my Social Security, and Medicare while I figure out HD Audio, NetFlix Streaming 1080p/DD+, Audio Media Servers, Modems, Routers, Bridges, Switches, CAT6, uPnP DLNA Servers/Clients, and of course our Excellent DENON AVR's. :D:eek:
