Lately I've been growing my own (Habaneros, Sweet Peppers, Anchos), Florida sun does peppers well. The hotter the food the better it is.

Well, I'll save the posts for here at harvest time. Should have a nice big pile of bhut jolokia peppers to show off.

I'm going to give some away, but most of the peppers I'll keep. Some of the peppers will be for some homemade hot sauce, but most will be dried. Been thinking about getting a bottle of Kettle One and making some serious pepper infused vodka.
Bhuts!...Really man you're crazy, those frigging pink slippers....gotta talk to loserwifey, get you some help....

I fill bottles of vinegar with "cachucha" peppers, good stuff to marinate with.

Nice!
Hey Strat, how long is the growing season down there?
Any info that I can use to help convince my wife we should move down would be appreciated. :D

Come on down Rick!......lets wait till after Saturday, we might have a minor 'cane coming our way. Growing season....you know peppers, as long as it's relatively hot and sunny they thrive, here I'd say almost year round, I picked peppers during Christmas, I'm still picking today.

On a side note I've had a white fly infestation (county wide actually) luckily I found a product in Home Depot that has worked magic, mostly eradicated all the flies, I was told I must use it once a week for six weeks, seems to be working so far.

If anyone has a Pei Wei near them, I recommend the Pei Wei Spicy with chicken. It's not extremely spicy, but it's very delicious with enough of a kick to wake you up :D

This is hot:

"The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T pepper is the hottest pepper in the world, according to Guinness World Records.[2] Prior to this, the world's hottest pepper was a specimen of the Naga Viper pepper. A laboratory test conducted in March, 2011 measured a specimen of Trinidad Scorpion Butch T at 1,463,700 Scoville heat units, making it hotter than the Naga Viper's 1,382,118 Scoville heat units.[3] Hotness of a species of chili pepper can vary by up to a factor of 10 depending on the conditions under which the specimen grew.[4] High-performance liquid chromatography has limited precision and a margin of error of about 5% of the true value; Scoville units reported with more than two significant figures should be regarded as for entertainment purposes only and not a scientific assessment of the heat of the pepper. I've been going to this place for 5 or 6 years.
Monday night I started with roasted Jalapeno peppers. I've never tried them roasted before, it really brings out some nice flavor. Not very hot, but very tasty.
This place has been harder to get into since it's been on TV, especially now that it's summer at the shore and minutes from the beach.

I had the two dishes featured here:

I've roasted jalapenos, man they're great.....I make huevos rancheros using chipotles in adobo sauce instead of traditional tomato base method.....hot and tasty.

I grow my own hot peppers during the summer and even my Jalapenos are enough to make grown men cry. The key is sun, sun and more sun. They just LOVE the heat and sun. I grow them on sandy loam soil. I find I get the best yields and hottest peppers in drought years where they get tons of full sun and I can control the moisture. The real key is letting them hang as long as possible. I treat them just like grapes to make fine wine. :) Last year we got a lot of rain and my peppers did crap. We have had record heat here in Canada this summer and I expect this to be my best crop and hottest.

If anyone gets white flies I recommend:

ORTHO FLOWER, FRUIT AND VEGETABLE INSECT KILLER

I got it at HD, cheap, I'm on second week (apply once a week for six weeks) all my plants are fly free, green and happy and full of blooms/peppers!

Here are some pics. We have had a hot and dry summer. Record type year! My relatives down in Sarasota Florida have been saying it's been hotter up here most of the days. BTW my igloo melted and I am homeless. Can you see how dry and hot it has been? Great year for me for growing peppers.

Let these puppies just hang and hang as weather permits...

So far no problems with the bhuts. Safer's is also a great product for vegetable pests.

Bhut Jolokia Peppers

I started the first round of the harvest today. Only about one third of the peppers are ripe. Should be harvesting through at least another month.

This is about 170 peppers. No matter how I tried to take the picture, not matter what lighting or setting, these damn things come out with a hellish red/orange glow. It's a freakin' omen of things to come

Wow, that's a lot of peppers, considering it's only one third!
Have you tried one? What are your plans for them?

Hey buddy before you eat those......get your proctologist on the line, get an appointment, have Loser Wifey get you some vanilla ice cream, buy a donut cushion and get your jacuzzi running on it's hottest setting.

Takes pictures, Ive never seen a human SR-71 running through the streets yelling...."DAMN! THAT'S HOT!.......while wife chases with a water hose.

Priceless. Ill drive up there to see the maiden flight. That or I'll see the orange red plume from the Miami skyline. As human rocket slowly fades over horizon.
