I'm thinking about buying a used/old Yamaha DSP-A2070 for about 70$. Is it worth it?
its going to be paired with my yamaha v667, and hopefully be driving my yamaha ns555 (2), and my center yamaha ns-c444...what do you guys think?thanx

That amp's published specs are 80wx3 plus 25Wx2.

What makes you think this is an improvement over the 90x7 in your v667?

Well i'd be using the amp @ 6ohms which should = to 100watts x3. At least that what this website said:

Plus I want to share the load between the components...Also, I feel like the older the unit, seems like the more robust power it has. I have a HTR 5560 and a HTR 5450, in terms of power, it seems they produce a whole lot more juice. They both are also much heavier than my 667

How do they "seem to produce more juice" other than by being heavier? I think you have a case of expectation bias.

Well what I mean by more juice is that; my reference volume in the older receivers (HTR's) never exceeded 40% of the max volume, nowadays with my 667 I seem to need to put the volume at 60-70% max volume to achieve the same sound stage. Same speakers and all.
I think the older htr's just has more muscle vs the 667 has a lot more decoding abilities. The 667 has WAYYY better sound clarity just not enough oomph to drive my speakers the way I want it to.
So i take your vote is a NO?

Its a pretty well known fact that the amp section on the *65's pretty much sucks, or is sub-par when compared to the previous models.

And the Yamaha DSP-A2070 is known for putting out tons of juice? Clearly amp power is directly related to weight.
