Let me drop mine on your toe to see how weak it is?
I'm not really making fun of the 2500 so much as I'm trying to goad Doug into upgrading.
He wants to real bad ... he just needs some coaxing. :)

I hear ya Brotha. I really wanted to get the Emo but just can't talk myself into the risk. These Yamaha's look tempting.

Well, when I got home last night, Wifey had friends over.

So I had to...

....say screw it and set up the new receiver anyhow.

Between all the noise and confusion of 3 kids (under 6) running around and asking, "what's wrong with the TV?" And 4 women asking, "Why aren't you eating?" I managed to get it up and running. All calibrated (except the sub) and it sounds great.
I wasn't expecting much of an upgrade in sound. After all, what can an extra 10 watts do right? I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe it was the new calibration. I don't know, but it does sound better. Not a huge improvement, but noticeably pleasing.
The big change is in the video. Not so much with the 720p projector, but with the 1080p LCD. The colors really pop now. And it is sharper then ever. Geez, now I really need that new projector! There is too much difference between the main display and the secondary display. And it's the secondary one that looks twice as good.

Dang. I'll have to keep upgrading.

I wanted the Emo as well, but it just doesn't have all the latest and greatest.
No 8 HDMI inputs.
No 2 HDMI outputs.
No 1.4 HDMI
etc.........

That's how long I've wanted the Emo... It's out dated now.:(

What I really want is way more power than I need and the latest codecs and the latest room correction... I guess I need to unload the wallet.:D

I was thinking of adding the 200wpcx5 amp from Emo, but I just don't think that my speakers need all that. I doubt that this 140wpc receiver really has many issues driving the speakers I have.

Next up.... putting the RX-V2500 into the bedroom. Those poor little JBL E20's won't know what hit them.

Me too. There should be a support group for people like us. And this place ain't it. This place makes it worse. There's always someone upgrading to something I wish I had.

Edit: And don't even get me started on the occasional thread titled, "I need an HT system but only have $15,000 in my budget." I always want to answer, "Screw you buddy. Send me the $15k and I'll send you my system."

LOL

That sucks but it cracked me up. Did you ever weigh it? I think Adam missed that project and for sure your pic/attachment thing was ... temporary. Let me see if I copied one of those pic's.

Yeah ... Adam, look at this thing. :)

Anyway, back to the rec'r: I kind of get how the sound can be different but the picture quality changing has me confused. You were going HDMI to your TV before, right? Now the rec'r just does the switching so PQ should be the same?

What did you calibrate your display with?
