As an engineer I "reuse" other people work everyday. SO I can appreciate th reuse...;)
During grad school I "reused" A ton of work from other people. Just cite the source :D

I usually try to avoid hearing other people's opinions before I watch a movie.

So I just got back from Transformers 3. I thought Transformers 2, royally sucked, so I probably shouldn't have bothered with #3, but here I am.

I actually thought the first movie was a well done action flick.
The second one started off well and good, but the second half just dragged to no end.

So what did I think of number 3?

Same problem as number 2.

Just too damn long with little substance. The action at points became difficult to follow, not to mention dragged itself out. Most of the movie was a string of action sequences with no immediate sense of danger or tension and at times I was just waiting for the action to end. It was predictable, and half of the movie just felt like filler.

There's some movies you go into, not expecting much of a story. That, I agree with. I went into this not expecting a story. And that's fine. But this was just a bad movie. It must have been 3-4 hours long, because that's what it felt like. By the time the climactic showdown came onscreen, I was just bored and disinterested. At some point even cars exploding and robots exploding and buildings exploding get mind numbing.

I think it's safe to say I could write and direct a better movie than this.

Oh, and the 3D and loud noises just left me with a headache.

I probably am a more critical viewer than some but I don't understand how anyone could enjoy this movie. It was slow and boring. And so was number 2. Neither of those have much to do with "action films" in my mind.

I think the problem with this series is this - it's afraid of drawing emotion. It'll kill off irrelevant side characters, sure, but never a main character. So every action sequence lacks tension. It's afraid of any grey area - the autobots are full on good guys so you know they'll win. That takes away tension. It's afraid of admitting that Sam Whitwickey really has no value left and everything he adds just feels contrived - like they're trying to write him a role rather than him just naturally falling into place - the whole "human villain" part of this movie really should have been done without. So you know sam's going to do his thing, but it stopped being fun a whole movie ago. The new girlfriend character is no longer a good foil for him or even "relevant", so you've just got a hot chick running around doing very little. I can see that any day from a Victoria's Secret catalogue. And Optimus Prime is the most bland character ever. Instead of a 40 minute scene of a building tipping over, how about a 5 minute scene of optimus prime doing something... anything.. ordinary trying to blend into the real world.

I hate to rant, but I just sat through three hours of that. You can say that there's people who like to be critics and people who like to watch movies. But I'm just trying to enjoy a movie. Something's definitely wrong if the movie doesn't let me enjoy it.

I don't expect "The Dark Knight" or even "Iron Man" here, but at least give me "Thor".

It's sad because the source material is sound. They could have really made some top notch Sci-fi action films with real heart, lots of story and plenty of sci-fi goodness. Instead they have 6 hours of video game footage.

That about sums up my feelings for this flick...trying to make a film out of a video game.

In a lot of cases yes, but in this case they took a pretty decent cartoon and instead of turning the cartoon into a cool sci-fi movie they made it look like a dumb video game. Retarded is what it is. I could write an entire article about movies looking like video games and what a stupid inept trend it is. Hmmmmmm!
