Yamaha Aventage RX-A1000
Marantz 6005/5006/5005
Pioneer VSX-1021-K/921-K
Harman Kardon AVR 3600
Denon AVR-4311CI
Onkyo 808/809?

If I'm compairing apples to oranges, sorry. All these caught my eye and my range is around $1000.

Best bang for the buck?

Thanks

Yamaha Aventage RX-A1000 Good reputation.
Marantz 6005/5006/5005 Rock solid but not cutting edge.
Pioneer VSX-1021-K/921-K Not a fan.
[/I]Harman Kardon AVR 3600 Solid but lacks features.
Denon AVR-4311CI With Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 IMO this is best on the list but way over $1000 from any authorized dealer (warranty intact).
Onkyo 808/809? IMO the best bang for the buck in this list under $1000.

A few days ago, Amazon had three of the Denon 3311 for $530 LIKE-NEW.

They lasted about 3 days.

I know at least 2 Audioholic members bought the units. The 3rd unit was probably also bought by someone on Audioholics. :D

Deals like that can be had, but they only last a few days.

And I wouldn't recommend buying anything less than NEW from anyone besides amazon direct buy.:D

That would be me.:D

By next week, I will let you guys know how legitimate these guys are. I'll be the test subject for the greater cause.:D

The authorized distributor just gave me the Freight Tracking PRO# for my order. So I should have my order my early next week according to plan:

The key word here is AUTHORIZED DEALER with actual stores.

I have wanted to ask if you purchased the 140 watt Denon AVR? Wish I had the extra funds..... I have Klipsch speakers so High power is not needed but when playing Blurays I do go deeper in the amps. The extra head room in the amp section would be nice. Unit might last longer(retired and play AVR 14 hours a day)....... I have a 5.2 HD HT system. After my Onkyo 805 HD AVR (Killer amps= more heat) had fried parts several times in 3 years I added a 6" fan and opened up the rear of my cabinet and have 6" open vent space for AVR. Waiting neighbors 3311 to get here to see how it plays. Another remote and system to learn. He knows less about HD AVR sets then me. Audessey sure does help. But even setting that up for the first time buyer can make a experience to a AVR a challange.

No, I have the Denon AVR5308, AVP-A1HD, and AVR-3310.

I have talked to DenPureSound quite a few times on the phone. He's also retired and looking for that money tree in his back yard:D:).

But Den owns a Denon 3311. He recently purchased the 4311 from Electronics Expo for $1,500 shipped. This was before I made my purchase with Independent Audio Video.

Den says that the Audyssey XT32 on the 4311 made a world of difference. He also says that even before applying Audyssey XT32, he could tell that the 4311 sounded better than the 3311.

But if I were in the market for the 4311 today, I would definitely get it from Independent AV.:D

I so totally want to pull the trigger on this receiver...it would be a massive upgrade and is just what I am looking for. But I cant seem to determine of independent av is an authorized denon dealer or not. I have read that denon will not honor warranties if you buy from an unauthorized source

I know how you feel buying on line and not a Factory Outlet. I purchased my Klipsch Reference speakers off Ebay A stock but NO warranty. Got them for 1/2 price and they were last years models back then. But a AVR is another story..... I have seen where some guys get lucky and get a brand new in the box AVR that was 1 or 2 years old for 1/2 price. And it worked perfect. Save the money and buy from a real Dealer and get extended warranty if you can. If this company is not a dealer for Denon.
You take your chances. My 1900 AVR I just got was local and used but still had 14 months Best Buy warranty (we went to BB and changed the name on warranty of the unit) for about 1/2 what it retailed for. Got Lucky when Onkyo 805 HD AVR died.Seller also came over with it in the box and set it up and made all my equipment play. Super Lucky and nice your man helping a Grand Dad

I don't have an aversion to buying online (I am an amazon prime member and use them religiously), I am questioning if this particular online retailer is an authorized dealer of Denon products.

I have heard that if you buy from a dealer that is not authorized, that Denon will not honor the warranty when something goes wrong.

I emailed this dealer and asked if they are authorized, noting that I didn't see them on Denon's site.

This is a MAJOR upgrade to my very modest Yamaha reciever.

I wanted to update you on my overall experience with Independent Audio Video.

I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

As with any purchase online, you really need to use a credit card to give yourself the extra protection and piece of mind. So I used my credit card. Mark Herman did not charge my credit card until he was able to actually locate an authorized distributer/dealer.

Once my credit card was charged, the item was shipped from California to the authorized dealer. Within a week, I got the tracking info, and I got the item a week later. This was a very large item.:D

If you would like the details, you can PM me.

But I highly recommend Independent Audio Video based on my experience.
