If your receiver does not have a MAX VOLUME LIMIT function, then you could use an external amp with volume control.
Do you have one of those amps (pro-style) with volume control on it?
First you turn the volume on the ext amp all the way down.
Then you turn the volume of the receiver all the way up to max.
Then you turn the volume of the ext amp to the level that you think should be the absolute MAX - say 90dBA.
So even if some drunk fool turns the volume on the receiver to max, the sound will never be more than 90dBA.
