Got that too. Seems like a good deal on the Piano black S1. I noticed they don't have the CMT-340SE on sale though.

That surprised me to but they just had a 340 + stands sale a few weeks ago. The 170s and 340s seem to be almost an industry secret.

sholl, I could not agree more, I'm in the process of negotiation with Dave to purchase the 340's for front stage and 170's for surrounds, in your opinion do you think a 110-135 watt receiver can drive all speakers to moderate listening levels, the reason I ask I'm thinking of selling off my EMO UPA-2 amp, thanks my friend. Sorry for the question in the wrong forum.

Pull the trigger man! The 340's or 170's are efficient enough to work with pretty much any receiver. Impedance will not be a problem either. Leave the receiver at its highest impedance setting. Your listening habits of "moderate levels" you won't even need 110 watts unless your room and listening distance is large and far away.

Thanks Bear, that's just what I needed to hear, I really appreciate the advice, not large and far away my room, happy holiday my man.

I agree with MinusTheBear. Easy to drive and good sounding. Too bad you don't live near me I'd give you a deal on my 340s but shipping always sucks.

Too bad indeed my friend, I would definetely be interested, I want to go with three indentical 340's up front. My zip is 15001, how does Dave ship so inexpensively, it must be volume shipping. Thanks again sholl.

Business will have certain shipping companies in which they deal with. They will get special rates with said shipping company(ies). The rates they get are much cheaper than what individual rates are for the average Joe.

Cheaper and they spread the pain with flat rate shipping. Local customers wind up subsidizing those on the other end of the country. Of course that all evens out when we buy from a company on the east coast. I'm only about 60-70 miles from Ascend and have been there.

Sholl, that makes sense, I wish I lived that close to Ascends so I could audition the 340's and Sierra's to justify the extra expense of the Sierra's, I just wonder how much better the Sierra SQ wise really is over the 340's. Thanks my friend.

I have not done a side by side comparison but it would be interesting. I've been told that the 170SE and 340SE have a bit better high frequency extension than the non-NrT Sierra-1 but I can't confirm that. The NrT upgrade for the Sierra-1 is subtle but adds in the high frequency extension that wasn't quite there before but isn't cheap. On the other hand the Sierra-1 has deeper bass.

The Sierra's bass extension really is not that much a concern at this time, I have an Epik sub and plan on a second real soon to even things out. I'm really curious as to the Sierra Tower, but that would exceed budjet. Thanks Sholl.

Just received a response from Dave F and shipping with the NrT upgrade will resumme this week. Shipping to Canada also seems pretty resonable...so my CC is ready to go...:D.
