Hello!

Recently I purchased two Tannoy 501a Reveal studio monitors and then purchased a Yamaha MG102CX 10 Input Stereo Mixer. Everything is working great. The active speakers produce great definition except for when dealing with frequencies 60hz and below obviously. The subwoofer I want to get is the Onkyo SKW204 which has a line input. Is it possible to have this subwoofer work along side my mixer? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks guys.

Hi, I think you can do a lot better for a sub.

What price range are you looking for, what size room, and how many seats?

I'd say my price range is about 100-200 dollars. I'll be using it mostly for music production and listening to my music. I want the subwoofer to be able to adapt to my environment as I move on in life but currently I use my speakers in our pretty large living room. But the question I really needed answered is my mixer problem. Will that mixer be able to adapt to any subwoofer?

Seriously, I have no life.

That mixer has only one set of line outputs.

Your only solution is to split the outputs. However you can not connect the inputs.

So you need a sub that has R & L inputs. These subs have a built in buffer amp that will not make your main speakers mono.

If your sub only has one line input, you will need to purchase a zero sum buffer amp.

By the way, you don't want to go near that Onkyo sub with a barge pole. That will get you nowhere except waste money.

That Onkyo sub would be total waste of money.. 100-200 will not get you sub able to fill your "large" living room
The lowest I'd consider is Emotiva 10 sub (I does have L&R inputs as per TLS post) and still that's not ideal solution for you

Thank you so much for the help. The emotiva sub bass looks very promising. I really just want a sub that can adapt to future projects.

Have you considered building it yourself? honestly though such a small budget won't do for anything more than equalized nearfield wothout the bottom octave. commercial subs will have electronic limiters on low frequencies preventing any future potential
