I bought this a few weeks ago and finally got home and had a chance to listen to it. If you're not a Rush fan then it's probably not worth $25 to by it. But, if you are a fan, or someone who likes higher end recordings def get it.

The disc has these options.
Audio
LPCM 2.0 (96kHz, 24-bit)
LPCM 5.1 (96kHz, 24-bit)
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (96kHz, 24-bit)

I listened in DTS. Side A,( Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight) well atleast to me it was side A being one of the first albums I ever bought when I was a kid, didn't blow me out of the water, but it did sound better than the cd by far. It almost felt like they wre right in the room, but I always liked these songs live over the studio version anyway. The highlight would have to be YYZ. Geddy's part really stands out with more clarity on this song, you could actually hear the separation between everynote. It actually sounded like a new song to me and gave me a new appreciation for it.
Side B. Camera Eye. The one Rush song I have never been a fan of. I'm still not. Not sure why. Maybe because it's sandwiched between Limelight and Witch Hunt. Witch Hunt blew me away. My fiancé poked her head in the room and said "wow, sounds like the singer is in the room with you!" It was def a highlight for me being one of my favorite Rush songs. It also seemed like it really benefitted the most from the rerecording process. The next gem for me was Vital Signs. Alex's reggae sound really came to life and Geddys parts were much cleaner.
Overall i think the one who benefitted most was the one known as the Militant Banana, or Mr Peart to the regular folk. His parts sounded more dynamic and I heard things easily on this disc that I had never noticed before. When I get back in town I am going to give it a listen in 2 channel and then cd to how it compares, since it also came with a cd.

Now, when is 2112 and Signals being released in this format. And Permanant Waves. And Caress of Steel. And.......

I'd have to put The Camera Eye in my top 3. IMO, it's the best track on Moving Pictures.

It's certainly an interesting societal commentary ........living in San Diego....I often look around the city and think to myself what "could be" in stark contrast to the monotonous activity that actually takes place. The focus is indeed sharp!

I just found this today on Amazon and placed an order. Was looking around to see if there was anything worthwhile still being released in DVD-Audio or SACD format, and found Moving Pictures in the blu-ray listings. Back when Snakes & Arrows came out I almost pulled the trigger on the 5.1 version, but decided to get the regular 2ch set and wait to see if they did a lossless surround version. Hopefully that album and the others get a similar DTS-MA treatment, even if it means I will end up double-dipping on them since I already have the regular CDs.

Man, I need to get this.

Rush is my all-time favorite.

Neil's drumming is definitely my favorite in Moving Pictures. I love sticking to Tom Sawyer and YYZ.

I ended-up buying both the Bluray and DVD-Audio versions - long time Rush fan:D

Both versions to me sound great, although I must say that Geddy's voice on the DVD-Audio disk sounds lower and more natural. Alex's guitars on both are incredible (listening to the part in Red Barchette as the car/Alex's guitar goes screaming from one speaker to the next is pure audio porn :D), and Neil's drums are in the room with you. Simply blissful.....
